Now over the half way through hump on this beer & baseball trip out west with the unusual suspects. Having used up San Diego and points north over the last few days, we have fled flying east to Arizona and I have to ask; um, is it me or is unpleasantly warm here? Is anybody else getting that? No? Not at all, really? Beering in the desert heat, 4 Peaks…
In and through to the big room. It’s a massive space, century old big brick building previously housing a creamery & ice factory. Concrete slab floors, and a vaulted arched ceiling with raised roof windows blinded, and rafter & plank ceilings. Duct work & drop spins on pan lamps. I-beam uprights and cross-beams. Flaggings lining the beam above the rear pen, and baby white lights strung the length, too. Drop caged pans lamps tracing the bar. GABF & World Beer Cup medals framed & logo pieces. Flats all around for the watching of game(s).
A looooong ‘U’ shaped, stainless topped bar, diamond plate base, and foot bar to the front. Seating for 3 dozen on wood chairs around the breaks to get in & out and a service area. A pair of 20 logo handled barbell towers along the bar with glassware stacked around them, and pitchers, too. Booze shelved & tiered below the bar. There’s a ‘Cask Conditioned Ale’ sign lit, but the 2 handpumps below it are not live.
22 beers up, best as I can tell. 10 Mainstays and a dozen seasonals (including a series of 4 kettle sours; 3 fruited and 1 not). Got into a few via sampler & otherwise. Sunset Point XPA, Session Pale Ale, 5.1%, solid, an easy drinker; Oatmeal Stout, 5%, okay, that’s oaty goodness; Oktoberfest, 6%, good malt backbone; Sunbru, Kolsch, 5.1%, pleasant, fruity esters, another easy drinker; Peach Ale, Fruited Golden Ale, 4.5%, non-cloying, refreshing; Pumpkin Porter, 5.1%, spices, no; Double Pumpkin Porter, 8.5%, double no; Golden Lager, Munich Helles, 5.2%, yes, tasty; Hop Knot, WC IPA, 6.7%, grapefruit bitterness; Kilt Lifter, Scottish Ale, 6%, malty, not bad. Oatmeal Stout, Sunbru Kolsch, Golden Lager, & Sunset Point XPA, for the wins. Beers were good overall ‘cept for all that pumpkin pain.
4 dozen tables throughout the room, wrapping the front of the bar, the backside between bar & penned brewery, down alongside the brewery the length of the row of tanks, and around the bend to the rear where projection screen action in happening.
On walkabout ‘cause I cannot be contained. There’s a middle room that appears to have been a space between 2 buildings that now isn’t anymore. A dozen & a half mostly hightop tables here. Framed jerseys, flaggings, & flatscreens on both walls, and ping pong ball strung lighting all about. If the middle room was a space between 2 buildings, then the end room is that other building and it is. Apparently, it used to house a recording studio. There’s a Gin Blossoms hook to the place. Oh, ‘New Miserable Experience’ was written here. That’s kind of totally fucking cool. The space holds an 8 seat straight bar with a drop periscope 20 handled tower on the barback. Merch around the room & coolered goods to go. It’s so very quiet back here.
And then ventured outside. I’m not really sure why as I seem to recall it being unpleasantly warm but there I was. 8 hightops under an awning + 2 and a half dozen tables squared & picnic being hit by welcome ass misters (I had to read that last line back and think about what I meant by that bit on the end there and then I remembered that it was like a million degrees out, and there were these misters dealing out light spray play).
Chill house, nice folks. Good range in styles and some very well-made enjoyable beers here. I dig it.

I was just figuring out that it's been 10 years since we were at this brewery, I thought it was only 4 or 5 years. Went here with friends from Scottsdale. Went for late afternoon lunch and beer. Lots of big windows up front. Light and bright and a little noisy from the big open space and the number of people there. Service was good as was the food. The waitress was friendly and helpful as our friends are not that much into beer. He had one that was light, like a BUD and really liked it, more flavorful. Had a good time .

I visited Four Peaks while in Tempe a couple of weeks ago. When I was there, they had 20 beers on tap plus 4 more can/bottle pours representing a wide variety of styles. 9 of these were special series beers and the rest were regulars; there were sours, lagers, IPAs, fruit beers, and a stout. A good selection all around, although thin in the dark beer area. I had the English pale, a European lager, and a Belgian strong pale ale, all quite tasty.
Build out is a big place with a restaurant and bar, with a couple separate seating areas including a big restaurant area and a smaller bar to the side. The overall feel is pretty industrial with exposed rafters and brick; from the restaurant there are many huge brewery tanks in full view; excellent. There's also a nice misted/shaded outdoor area.
Service up at the bar is good and friendly and my bartender gave good recommendations.

This is a that working brewery also features a sizable eatery with patio seating. The quality of the beer is average to slightly above average. The service was good. The selection includes thirteen year round beers, seasonal and special releases. The food menu is focused on burgers and pizza.

Post Cubs game food... Nachos were tops... four peaks is a good solid choice for a group. There is enough variety for everyone to find something they like...

I'm typically a little leery when it comes to breweries that are, at face value, more eatery than brewery. If its not located in some industrial park next to a welder and a some sort of nondescript importer store front, then I feel uneasy. Overall the brew pub vibe wasnt bad but it just had that "this place gets sh*t packed on a Friday night" sort of vibe to it. Service was friendly and I actually found myself enjoying the beer. The Kilt Lifter was my favorite but since we're in the season, I also went for the Pumpkin Ale. Both beers were mellow but in a good way; I could've sipped either all day. Not bad, 4 peaks....not bad at all.

This place was eh...The atmosphere was pretty weak, the beers were pretty weak and the service was average. Prices for a flight were pretty good. Would definitely never come back here because of their beers.

Kinda busy and crowded, but still okay. Had the barrel aged KiltLifter (awesome) and the fish and chips for dinner. Took home a growler of schwarzbier, which was also pretty fine. Recommended stop in Phoenix.

One of my go-to's! Fresh cold beer, delicious food, friendly crowd, great atmosphere, and a great local company with an interesting history. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, bar space, and TV's. Despite its fairly close proximity to Arizona State University, students don't frequent very often (which is a plus in my opinion).

Exceptional beers and food. Well known for Kilt Lifter that is widely distributed, but don't miss Hop Knot which is a good APA. The selection here is good and every beer sampled has been worthwhile.

I visited Four Peaks back in 2008 for the UGA at ASU game. It was an oasis, and the beer was great. The only place in Tempe I long to visit again, especially with Montis gone.
