While asking an employee of the brewery about this beer I was informed that it was a dry hopped version of the Kilt Lifter. This beer was served to me at the brewery in a pint glass on Saturday May 25th, 2008.
It poured a crystal clear rust color with little bubbles. The head is tan and frothy with a creamy mix of large and small bubbles. Chunky webbing on the sides of the glass, its very pretty to look at.
Smell is lightly malty with a faint hop note. I can pick up on a moderate spiciness but the nose is mostly crystal malts lightly caramelized.
Taste is of watery sweet toffee, malts with a mild bitterness to the aftertaste. A spicy hop sensation that feels kind of pointy on the top of your tongue. There is a light chlorinated taste, kind of like getting pool water into your beer.
This brew tastes watered down, there is an interesting malt profile and spice but it looses me because it is not pronounced. It is satisfying to drink because it has a nice microscopic carbonation that adds to the interesting mouthfeel but its not a stellar brew.
