a not so great variant of their joy bus wheat beer, which i liked a whole lot, but the blueberry is over the top, too perfumy to be real fruit, and sweet now where it wasnt before. the blueberry also trounces any orange character in the base beer, which was one of its best features, i had a hard time finishing a draft pour of this, it gets crazy sweet and cheap tasting as it warms. hazy and matte pink or even pale lavender colored, short lasting airy head but then plenty of bubbles the whole time, even as slow as i go, and almost to a soda level, big sized bubbles. the nose is floral and obviously berry forward, the citrus is now way back, and it still has an earthy pale wheaty core, its obvious what it is, pretty straightforward and not unappealing, just sweet. the flavor is almost potpourri, too much, identifiable as blueberry but like, only because ive had enough blueberry flavored things, it doesnt taste like the actual berries, which have some tang most of the time. im glad i can still taste and feel the wheat, which puts it ahead of a number of other lesser beers doing the same thing with fruit, thats what saves this a little bit. tastes like candy, lingers on the tongue and teeth, and the orange that i loved in the base beer is really faint compared to the blueberry agent. not bad, this will have an audience, but its also not particularly genuine to me on the fruit side, and its hard to get behind that. i much prefer the original...
