Aarhus Bryghus Saison is brewed with Saison yeast and gooseberry juice. It is fresh and slightly acidic and suitable for sushi and other good fish dishes.

Aarhus 26/7 2020. 60 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen, Vesterbro Torv, Aarhus. Aarhus’ usual design which looks a bit like information from the Municipal authorities about public health. This time in the form of an alluring golden fog.
Pours slightly unclear yellow with a medium-sized white head. Settles as 0,3 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with sour citrus and spicy notes. White sugar and lemonade. Citrus and sour gooseberries. Hints of black pepper.
Light carbonation. Thin, oily, soft yet lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a fairly strong sweetness followed by more moderate, tart bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a thin tart undercurrent. Lingers for a while.
Somewhat too sweet for how I like a Saison. More “lemonade” than tart and dry.
