A - Darker amber color with a thin, and clearish appearance. No head, looks very smooth, and kind of like a dark scotch.
S - Definitely scotch heavy aroma. Hints of vanilla and oak, but not much peat. Some spice and caramel malt comes out in the background.
T - Just like the aroma, you can definitely taste the scotch. In fact, I thought it tasted like a lighter scotch without the alcohol and a background of malt. Some sweet caramel malt in the background along a slightly spiced and herbal/tea like flavor in the back. Oak makes a nice presences as well. I would have liked a bit more from the malt, at least compared to the scotch level.
M - Medium body that is incredibly smooth and has a slight stickiness on the finish, coating the mouth.
D - Definitely a sipper, but the alcohol is almost non-existent. Incredibly smooth and easy to drink. Very much enjoyed it.
Notes: Aged in an oak barrel that was soaked with Balvenie (I believe). The Wee Heavy was one of the first beers Joe brewed here. It was a very nice sipping beer. Like I said, picked up a lot of the scotch. Ideally, a little more of the malt would come out compared to the scotch flavor. Was a great beer to sip on during a cold day.
