Served in a conic pint at Raleigh's in Berkeley, CA.

Attractive deep amber color, reminiscent of fresh apple cider. Moderate, quickly dissipating head, good lacing.

Aroma of bright fruit and light malt.

Flavor is clean tropical fruit - hints of pineaple, mango, perhaps grape. Malt is very light. Minimal hop presence until the aftertaste, which is clean and bright and has a note of orange peel flavor.

Mouthfeel is slightly heavier than expected for the style, but balanced.

Overall, a good style example, but not much complexity here.

With a opaque, bold honey color, it has a subtle lemon taste backed up with a nice, bready malt backbone. Because this lemon taste doesn’t have a rough bitter bite, it’s as though you are having a nice lemon cake! This is better than Honcho Hefewiezen from Mother Earth Brewing and the Hefewiezen from Santa Fe Brewing. After this beer, I highly recommend Karl Strauss’ Hefeweizen and La Cumbre’s A Slice of Hefen!

Looks like a good Hefe. Pale straw, but I expected a little more head. Retained a minimal head throughout. Very minimal lacing. A little cloudy.

I smelled florals in a big way. I'm surprised not many others have noted that.

Tasted floral, peppery, spicy, fruity. Fruits were citrusy, but also others.

Feels like a good Hefe. Dry feel is nice. Carbonated nicely.

I enjoyed this beer. For personal preference, however, it's a bit too floral for my loving.

Bottle poured into a Sudwerk Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours faintly hazy golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles and laces lightly before disappearing.

S: Standard bready wheat and fruity yeast notes, floral, light citrus zest, and a little spice.

T: Grainy wheat, honey malt sweetness, fruity yeast notes, floral, hints of citrus, and a little clove spice.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: The smell and taste are fine, but I wish it was a little lighter in body and looked a bit prettier in my glass.
