Bought at Oak Barrel in Sydney's CBD. I asked the beer guy if there were any Aussie Belgians that could even approach the real deal and he demurred. But, he told me to try this.
I opened it and was encouraged by its continuing to foam out of the bottle top for about 3 minutes. Not able to wait any longer, I poured it out... and decided pretty quickly that this was only going to be a good Looker.
Lacking the knack for Belgian yeast, Epice (spice) really does not have much more going for it other than the spices put in.
That is OK, but don't put this style in a bottle until it recognizable from a keg.
However I should point out that I get more yeastiness from the bottom of this conditioned bottle, but it still is not close enough to a Belgian... and then there is the particular handicap that Aussie's serve their beer so cold.
I hope to have another beer from Boatrocker... but not a Belgian.
