La Fin du Monde was developed through 18 months of research on a unique strain of yeast originating from Europe. It is brewed in honor of the intrepid European explorers who believed they had reached the “end of the world” when they discovered North America ‘the new world’. This triple-style golden ale recreates the style of beer originally developed in the Middle Ages by trappist monks for special occasions and as such it was the first of its kind to be brewed in North America.

4/4/15 (Bottle) - Golden pour with generous white head, mild carbonation. Yeast and bread aromas, with a hint of citrus. Excellent taste of malts, yeast, somewhat sweet and balanced. Excellent feel, smooth, nice kick to it, and with the large bottle you are set for the afternoon.Overall excellent beer!

Look: It pours yellow with a bit of clouding. It has a white head with very good head retention.
Smell: It is quite spicy up front with a moderate amount of Belgian yeast. There are some lemony overtones with dough and a bit of musk. There are also some coriander notes in the background as well.
Taste: It is quite spicy up front with dough and Belgian yeast. There are some lemon notes with coriander with a bit of fruitiness in it.
Feel: It has a medium full body with a some alcohol warming.
Overall, lots of combinations of flavors and aromas.

From a bottle with a drink by date of April 2027, at around 55 degrees F, a semi-aggressive pour into a pint glass resulted in a 3-finger creamy white head topping a hazy pale to medium amber colored ale. Upper medium level carbonation, and great head retention. It's bottle conditioned, and I swirled then poured all the good stuff from the bottom of the bottle into the glass.
Aroma is a bit complex with coriander spice up front, orchard fruit and banana fruitiness, some white bread, a tad biscuity. Smells great and inviting.
The taste follows the aroma. I get a good boost of coriander and fruit up front, lasting through the experience. Banana, red apple, a little bit of green pear. It's all there on the backend along with a slight alcohol bite and some bready/bisquity malt. Aftertaste is yeasty, a bit malty and the sweet fruit esters stick around with a touch of peppery spice. The alcohol is a bit more noticeable on the finish. It has an upper light to low end medium bitterness. For me, this is a really nice, top shelf Tripel.
The mouthfeel is quite spritzy with a bite up front, almost harsh on the palate, but mellows out on the backend getting a bit softer on the back of the palate and throat. It's moderately dry on the finish, and although the alcohol is mild and hard to notice on the taste, I do pick it up more on the finish and feel the warmth as it travels to the stomach. Body is upper medium. What a terrific beer and nice representation of the style! I highly recommend it. Cheers y'all!!

Cloudy, poured from a bottle. Aromatic, fruity, pink pepper, slightly herbaceous (sage?). Taste follows—almost imperceptibly astringent. Salt spray. Smooth and implacable mouthfeel. Alcohol blends spectacularly well. I was wowed.

Highly aromatic and elegant. Strong notes of green apple, floral tones, and pronounced peppery spice. The alcohol is perfectly integrated, and the mouthfeel is seamless with no gaps. The most striking feature is its extraordinary persistence flavors linger on the palate for minutes, more like a fine whisky than a beer. Complex, balanced, and beautifully structured. A true work of art.

I rated this 12 years ago, but now I'm reviewing it. Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a nice opaque orange with fluffy white head. The nose is banana, orange, wheat, spice, and vanilla. The taste follows the nose. Mild sweetness. Tons of spice - clove, pepper. Orange, vanilla, banana, pear, light caramel. A wonderful tripel. Is it as good as some of the best Belgian tripels? Probably not, but still great. One of the best from North America, for sure.

Tap at Belmont Station. Colour is largely clear gold with a huge white head. Nose is candi sugar, yeast, banana syrup, quince, loquat and Turkish delight. Palate is full, plush, heady and broad shouldered with an ethanol hit that seems way bigger than 9%! The mid palate is dry and lightly sweet with notes of deglet, candied orange peel and lemon pith. The finish is long, still heady and almost tannic

Poured a translucent burnt orange color into a pint glass from a 750 ml bomber. Off white 2 finger head that dissipated slowly and leaves ample spotty lacing. Crisp clean aromas of candied fruit, pear, banana and Belgian yeast esters are forward with a hint of maltiness. Mouth follows nose with a mild bitterness in the finish that sits back on the palate near the throat. No sign of the 9% ABV until you reach the end of the bottle. Has an almost fruited bready quality in the mouth but is still very drinkable. Have had this many time over the years and use this as an example to newbies as a prime example of what a Trippel is.

Probably the wrong person to review this beer as it isn't exactly my preferred style - however there are some things I can appreciate about it. It pours deeply opaque bright-gold with an active head. On the nose I'm getting banana bread, baking spices, light malt, & honey. The tase is very spice-forward, with notes of both cinnamon & nutmeg. Next I get fresh baked bread & light maple syrup followed by some banana notes. Finishes somewhat heavy / stick with a bit of booziness. Might enjoy it more in the fall / winter - overall I can see why it's a fan favorite, just not in my wheelhouse.
