12oz bottle served in a snifter. Neck of the bottle has the code 252 5 1, which I interpret as bottled around September 2015 sometime.
Pours a hazy bright golden-amber with a medium head and respectable (and surprisingly fine) carbonation. Smell is pretty IPA-ish, which I don't believe is normal for an altbier. I get juiciness and pine, mostly. A little toast or bread. Fairly orangey. I like the smell, but I don't think it's to style.
Taste is very IPA up front, but with a slow rolling sweetness following along behind. More of the sweet juicy character, less of the pine, heavy bitterness and an amplified "amber bitter" -- not sure how to call it, but I've had ambers that were sweet, and ambers that were bitter. This has the characteristic of a bitter amber, but cranked up to 11.
Mouthfeel is nice, surprisingly dry. Overall, I like this beer, but I'm not sure how much of an altbier it is.

12 oz bottle born 9/22/15 poured into a Guinness pint glass.
A - Pours a clear golden orange with a one finger head that retains for a few.
S - Grapefruit, dank, pine.
T - This is the last of the six, and I can say that this does not come across like an altbier. Mango, tropical fruit, dank pine and grains. Bitter finish.
M - Carbonation medium low, somewhat creamy, with overriding bitterness.
O - As i mentioned, not what I was expecting, but it does have it's positives. You get the standard Lagunitas taste that seems to be permeating all of their beers recently, some mild toasted grains and tropical fruit/dank.

Not an alt at all. More of an IPA. Hoppy and sticky. Dank and resiny. Light golden yellow with white head. Bready malts. Nothing dark or alt beer like at all. Odd. Good IPA. Bad alt. Rating it as an IPA=4.
