This sad holiday season we didn’t have the brewing capacity to make our favorite seasonal brew, the widely feared BrownShugga’ Ale. You see we had a couple of really good years (thank you very much) and so heading into this season while we are awaiting the January delivery of a new brewhouse we are jammin’ along brewing 80 barrels of IPA and PILS and such every 3 hours. A couple of months back we realized that since we can only brew a mere 60 barrels of Shugga’ every 5 hours, that we were seriously screwed. For every case of Shugga’ brewed, we’d short 3 cases of our favorite daily beers. It’s a drag. This year, we brewed something that we think is also cool and brews more like our daily brews. The new brewhouse will help insure this kind of failure never happens again. It’s a mess that we can not brew our BrownShugga’ this year and we suck for not doing it. There is nothing cool about screwing this up this badly and we know it. Maybe we can sue our own sorry selves. There is no joy in our hearts this holiday and the best we can hope for is a quick and merciful end. F*@& us. This totally blows. Whatever. We freaking munch moldy donkey butt and we just want it to be all over...
So this substitute beer is a ‘Cereal Medley’ of Barley, Rye, Wheat, and Oats…. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, and weighing in at 7.85% abv, Then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous hop flavor.

Hazy golden, with a big, white head. Malt, caramel, and pine in aroma. Great balanced taste. Unbelievably tasty and drinkable. Perfect for sharing, a quart bottle. The label says to share with friends...

Copenhagen 6/1 2018. 35,5 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh Ø. Some kind of lump of something brown and red (hope it is not meant to look like feces).
Pours clear, golden yellow with a small white head. Settles as thin layer just covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is fruity, sweetish and intense. Light odor of exotic fruit. Peach, mango and melon. Lightly sugary. Notable presence of alcohol providing light booziness.
Medium strong carbonation. Medium thick, soft, tough texture.
Flavor has strong sweetness followed by and balanced by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for a while.
A nice strong beer which smell and taste of other things than sweet malts and alcohol.

Bottle 0.335L. (tasted in 2018)
Slightly hazy golden-to-orange body with a large, frothy, white head, mostly lasting with some lacing; low density of medium-sized bubbles.
Moderate-to-heavy hoppy (grapefruit, flowers) and light-to-moderate malty (caramel) aroma.
Moderate-to-heavy bitter flavour; long-lasting bitter finish.
Light-to-medium body with oily texture; soft carbonation.

Some scrappy notes from 2018. 6 pack of 12 ounce bottles.
This beer pours a deep gold color and is crisp and bright tasting. It is sweet and slightly resinous and is extremely easy drinking for it's 8% ABV. I hope they continue to make it as it is one of my favorites from this brewery. Excellent!

355 ml bottle, at a breakfast joint in Petaluma. Deep golden to orange colour, large off-white head. Aroma and flavour of citrus, pine, caramel and sweet malts. Maybe a bit too far out on the sweet side for me, but still a fairly nice beer. Some alcohol in the finish. Anyway, I wouldn’t say that it sucks.
