Pours a lovely bright straw/yellow with a thick cloudy white head that crumbles slowly amidst vigorous carbonation leaving wonderful lacy threads along it's path down the glass.
Smell is sharply bready, like a crusty sourdough, with a nice light lemony bite. Some estery funk lurking around the tail end.
Taste is herbal and earthy with the belgian banana/clove influence present but subtle behind earthy/grassy notes. The spiced banana character rises in prominence as you drink on. Never overwhelms the earthy, bright, herbal flavors that dominate. Very pleasant and clean flavors.
Mouthfeel is wonderful, light and crisp with enough body to hold up a complex flavor and never veer toward watery.
Overall this is a wonderful, fresh, light brew. Great grassy/herbal notes that balance the spicy/banana character of the yeast. I am not typically a fan of the sweet/syrupy character that often accompanies these belgian yeast esters but this is presented in such a beautiful, delicate package that I find it irresistable. Wonderful session beer, could drink it all day.
