Dull black with a fuzzy tan head that recedes to a flat, long collar.
All the boozy Pappy, it's peppery and herbal, like sassafras, with an almost spiced orange characteristic. It goes so far in this direction that I almost thought it was a barleywine and not a stout, as the roasts no longer seem to assert themselves, though it does after time settle back into a classic stout base.

Bottle pour- dark as night with short khaki head leaving minimal lacing and a tiny ring of foam. Nose is all about the bourbon barrel and taste follows with a hint of sweetness and more barrel wood. A bit of alcohol warmth lingers on the finish. Exceptionally tasty, especially for bourbon aficionados .

I don't usually write much for reviews and typically use the rating system as a guide to what I purchase. However, Dreamwood has driven me to type. It is fantastic. I received my shipment today and promptly dropped the bottle loosening the cap. Beer was leaking. Damn. Poor me. Guess I will have to sample tonight. ....Tonight is here and I love it. For a 16% alcohol imperial stout it has more body that I would typically expect. Not that boozy which means sneaky. Gonna have to temper this one. I highly recommend!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
