East meets West in a Firestone Walker saison that invites brewers of Ommegang to steer their Belgian ship. Loosely based around Brewery Ommegang's Hennepin Saison, this wild ale carries a little extra funk and fauna.
Pale gold and caught in a yeasty glow, Ommegeddon West builds a bubbly but dainty ivory foam. With the funky aromas of damp basement, moss, weathered wood, dry leather and fruit, the scent is playfully pungent with a spicy edge. To taste, its a doughy upstart wrapped in a dash of powdered sugar, sourdough and wafer that kicks off its taste.
As the bright and bubbly ale washes the middle palate the fruitier flavors emerge in forms of lemon, grapefruit, lime, pear, pineapple and light peach- all seemingly branch dried and lightly dusty. A balance from yeast spices add hints of clove, coriander, white pepper, paradise seed and oak tannins for a drying and peppery counterpart. As a hay-like bitterness closes the taste, the late palate trends leathery, dusty and dry.
Medium-light and trending drier, the session ends brisk and playfully tart and with a brief followup of sourdough, leather and dried fruit once more.

Bottle pour - opaque lemon yellow honey color with foamy white head leaving generous foamy/frosty lacing. Nose is yeasty and sour. Taste is pleasantly mild and clean with herbal notes. Mild sourness lingers on the finish.

Solid yellow, not transparent, retaining white foam.
Bright, sharp & clean, so brett.
Not lemony or tart, but clean and slightly herbal. A stronger dose of late addition hops might help but still a nice bright beer. IMO, the higher ABV is detectable on the finish.
Crisp.
