From first spew to the last hot and sour taste, this is a royal flush. No, not the one you almost made in Reno. After the big foam-up (time to wash the entire countertop anyway) it settles down to a pulsing fizz in the big chalice. The smell is rusty radiator and that unmarked condiment bottle at the Vietnamese cafe. Some vinegar taste along with the fermented fruit punch. Then the chiles, but I will gladly admit it's a nice level of heat and provides the one tolerable flavor here. It's just a sad waste of smoked serranos.

In the glass, the red-amber color is interesting, but there are clouds-- no, nebulae afloat here. With the purple wax-dipped cap, all the chemistry must have come straight from the brewery. This brewery seems to do a lot of Wild Ales so maybe some yeast and other cannibals escaped into this batch.

Finally, I have to quibble with the category. this should be a Chile Beer. The label says it's a "farmhouse ale" so RB calls it a Saison. But Chile is the dominant flavor. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bottleworks in Seattle. Number 282 of 300.

Another Buckeyeboy addition to tonight's tasting. A HUGE gusher.. we lost more than half the bottle.

Nose shows plenty of smoke and chilis...

Fruit mirrors the aroma with a sorta funky/sour element that actually ties it together a bit... Still, this doesn't jive too well with me. It reminds me of salsa juice. Would go well in a bloody mary.

Again, I respect the vision.. but overall this brew is just not for me.
