They call this a Rye Farmhouse Ale brewed with spices. Pours a beautiful orange amber with abundant foam in the Kasteel chalice. Sudsy and malty in the mouth.
A litle fruit flavor with some distinct citrus. Not as strongly rye flavored as typical rye brews, but the resiny tang goes well with the Belgian yeast. Quite full of grain flavors with that nice fruity taste of apples and pears. Not very bitter until the last mouthful with the extra sediment.
An excellent beer and one to look for if you've been wary of trying Epic's mystery brews. From the 750 ml bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham. Label says bottled 4.15 Batch #1.
