22oz. bottle

Pours lightly hazy straw yellow with a frothy white foam head. Smells like lemony citrus, white grape, apples, sweet oat malt, leathery brett, farmhouse funk, barnyardy horse blanket, hay, straw, peppery clove spice, with dusty floral earthy hops. Tastes like lemon, grapefruit peel, citrus pith, white grape, tart apple, sweet fluffy oats, leather, farmhouse funk, barnyardy horse blanket, hay, straw, peppery clove spice, with dusty floral earthy grassy hops. Feels medium thick bodied, creamy with smooth moderate carbonation. Overall a nice oat malt saison with brettanomyces.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip. I got this bottle at my local bottle shop in 2019, and I don't remember having seen it there before, so I'm guessing it has been re-brewed and is available again? It's labeled at 6% ABV rather than the 4.5% listed here on BA.

Appearance: light straw hue with just a touch of haze and a couple of floaties. Head is a thin layer of white foam that dissipates pretty quickly. Sokay.

Smell: I get a ton of, like, lemongrass character with plenty of sourness and a dash of funk. Maybe just lemons + grass rather than lemongrass? I'm not a botanist. Whatever it is, it's weird and very refreshing-smelling.

Taste: there's more tartness to the smell than to the taste; the flavor is kind of a like lemon water without too much sourness combined with a lightly malty Brett saison. It's an unusual, but very refreshing beer. I like it.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a good level of carbonation and a decent creaminess.

Overall: this is a crushably drinkable beer. The lemon character, slight tartness and hint of funk really make this a refreshing delight. I just want to sit on a beach with 3 of these bad boys.

-hazy, pale pour with almost no visible effervescence. -Brett funk in the nose. The flavor is really earthy with a bit of grapefruit and what seems like oak. The feel is exceptionally dry, but also relatively clean, especially considering the mixed Brett aspects. I do really like it.

a neat one from these guys, in collaboration with the italian folks, i think i like the original better, the one in the toccalmatto packaging, but this might be a little funkier. i think this one is a bit yeastier too, in that the entirely oat mash is less of a defining feature than it was in the the other one, but it would have been better to have them side by side to really compare. this isnt quite as milky hazy as that one, but i had this one tap and that one in the bottle. less of the white wine notes and italian yeast randomness, more of a refined, cultured brett profile that i have seen in other stillwater wild or mixed fermentation brews, and probably their biggest contribution to this. its still high starch and a little gummy from the oats, which i think is cool, but the flavor isnt as obvious as the texture, or as it was in the original. its funky and earthy and absolutely bone dry, more delicate than the original as well, i really like the brett in here, but thought there was some funk that was more unique in the first one. to me, this is really good wild beer but somewhat less distinctive, its supposed to be about the oats, not the yeast, at least as the center of attention. great beer though, another epic stillwater collaboration (the undisputed kings of collaboration right now), and well worth drinking if you see it out there! make sure to also grab the toccalmatto packaged one!

L: Hazy straw color, with quickly disapating snow white head.
S: Slightly earthy, with some kiwi and bright pineapple.
T: Easy tartness which lingers at the end. Kiwi still very present.
Feel: Nice and dry.
O: A fantastic beer. Enjoyed at the Beer Mongers in Portland, OR.
