I got a late start on this past Sunday's NBS (Week 774) & I did not finish up my DelMarVa (+ DC) adventure as planned. 8=( Further, I have promised that next week's NBS (Week 775) will be dedicated to the wonderful beers sent to me by @jkblr who seems to have a real handle on my drinking habits. CANsparency is key in these things! As a result, I am going to CANcentrate over the next few days on eradicating everything that would have CANbined to form the finale of the DelMarVa (+ DC) adventure. Sit down, strap in & hang on. It's gonna be a wild ride!

Speaking of Wild, thanks to staying with BAL & MD, I now have a Sour Ale as my next beer! If this keeps up, I'm going to get my status as a hophead in good standing revoked! 8=(

From the CAN: "Dry-Hopped Sour Ale with Raspberries".

Once more, I did some in-CANgitation to ensure that any & all flocculate was back in suspension. Once I Crack!ed open the vent, it was off to the races with a heavy-handed C-Line Glug. This resulted in not only a pseudo-cascade, bult also the formation of two-plus fingers of fizzy, foamy, roiling deep-pink head that fell away to wisps all too quickly. Color was a hazy Magenta (SRM = N/A). Nose was redolent with raspberries & once again, I though of my late-paternal grandmother's garden with its rose & raspberry bushes. Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but not terribly removed from it, either. About par for the course. The taste was solid raspberries and acCANdingly, more tart than sour. It had a very jammy flavor, much like the preserves that we put up every year as I apprenticed in her kitchen. Mmm. The tartness was actually pretty mild overall & in CANparison to some raspberry beers that I have had. Mmm. I found myself lost in reverie as I drank this gem. The tartness was light enough that I found my mind wandering. Finish was tart & dry, but not so much as to be off-putting. YMMV.
