Man its time to start cranking out some lambic reviews from the drie fontenein party. I literally believe I will see a change in my average score at the conclusion of these next ~20 lambic reviews.
Anyhoo, Cabernet grapes, my favorite wine style, lets see how this goes. Pours a more brown like color. Certainly dark reddish aspects of it. I guess this one might be woody and/or malty? Didn't really amass head, this one leans more into wine appearance territory. Aroma definitely those dark fruit cabernet grapes, blackberry, tobacco, oak, earthiness in a lambic.
Taste had just the slightest flanders oud bruin feel to it like it was that as a minority portion blend of this lambic. Restrained sourness and acidity. Dark fruit grape, blackberry, prune going. Tannic wine mouth feels and noticeable stronger alcohol than any of their other lambics. Great example of getting to try a good but pricey beer in a more preferable smaller tasting setting. Now I don't have to drop $50+ just to try this that one time. Definitely the most wine leaning drie fontenein lambic I've ever had.

epic beer, spendy as they come, but a sick find and a beer ive been saving a little while, nothing beats the grape lambics and wild ales for me, so this is right in my maximum stoke zone, as good as i hoped it would be. this is one of those bottles with the additional side label that kind of looks handwritten, bottled in 2020, really cool stuff, just over 550 total bottle produced! gorgeous deep vinous ruby reddish purple color here, clearish through most of it, a slightly muted luster adds intrigue, a short lived ring of bubbles on top and just enough carbonation throughout, high color intensity, looks really pretty in our little wine glasses. the nose on it is crazy, lambic funk, old hops, sulfur, wet animal, hay and straw, truly rustic, some green glass weirdness here, an almost saison yeast spiciness, and then all the fruit and oak, red wine for sure, bordeaux barrel treatment seems apparent, and these grapes come on tannic and rich with notes of blackberry, mulled wine, and black currant or aronia berry, medium on the sourness overall, very mouthwatering, fascinating. this fruit varietal was unfamiliar to me before this but now i am curious to try the wine it yields too, in this neat lambic blend its grippy on the palate with a tight tannic complexion, its high in pigment and big in berry character, plum and prune, marionberry, and i get unique vanilla and even allspice notes with the wood coming in. it warms up favorably, stays super funky, and exhibits a little brighter younger lambic personality at its core, nuanced and delicious, addicting to drink, musty but expressive and excited too, a wicked showcase of this fruit, one of the best of these i have had from these guys and a delight to share with my brother! would love to get my lips on some more of these grape ones they do...

Burgundy red appearance with a loose fleeting light pink head. Dry red wine, subtle funk, oak. The Bordeaux barrel really comes through nicely. Medium body, medium carbonation, dry finish.
