222nd Review
75cl bottle shared at Akkurat with a great crew
Poured in a gueuze glass
Enjoyed on 9 May 2012
Supposedly this is the same thing as the J&J Blauw, but I have a different opinion having enjoyed the Blauw a few days before consuming this at Akkurat.
A: Dull gold. 2+ (white) fingernail head on soft pour.
S: Classic 3F aromas with earthy funk, citrus, hay, soft must, and slight lemon. Wow - so nice!
T: Not much going on here - just earthy funk, touch of lemon, and hint of salty cheese. Seems to be missing something, but fairly easy to drink. Okay (i.e. slightly above average), but not great. Maybe this is actually J&J Blauw, but I'm not convinved about that.
M: Light bodied with appropriate carbonation.
O: Not nearly as rounded and complex as Blauw, but a decent geuze nonetheless. Smells better than it tastes. Unbalanced sourness, not offset by anything; thus making this somewhat dull. Not as enjoyable as the Drie Fonteinen Akkurat's Oude Geuze 50/50 or J&J Blauw (especially considering the "price of admission" was SEK 785).

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
