Picked up because I like Fulton. 750ML bottle #1697 of 2160 split with my wife. And I’ll own a bit that I miss the big goofy stylized hop that’s plastered all over their little bottles. And Patience bombers. Oh man, I like Patience. The beer. I don’t have any personally. Patience, I mean. What?

The pour is a dark, distressed red with scarcely a hint of carbonation. Foremost in the nose is a soft dollop of High West, which I’m becoming quite fond of, with only a gentle reverberation of rusted red malts underneath. Mild.

The Libertine – Barrel Aged brings a car battery of barrel and AAA of beer. Huge whiskey notes waltz with the vanilla and a strong undergarment of oak on top of…well, there’s a brew in there somewhere, isn’t there? Sweet malts almost show up in the middle, along with the amber ale rustiness, rough grained sugar, slow-building spiciness that really comes on as the beer warms up. I can sure taste the red behind this, as it drinks like an old 3.2% near-beer: easy. I hope it doesn’t make me pee like that shit did. Those old brews didn’t have this lingering alcohol sting in the back of the throat, though.

This is a brew that you really need to let warm up, even beyond what a guy normally would; cool, this was a simple bourbon-bomb, warmer, it opened up like a 7-10 split. Not quite reaching elite status, but a damn good beer.

Really nice beer from Fulton. I had a knob creek version of this on tap a year or so ago and remember wishing I could get it in bottles. Well this isn't quite the same, but still very tasty. Very good bourbon flavor with a pretty thick mouthfeel that works well. Chocolate, caramel, oak. Alcohol is well hidden. One of my favorite "new" BA beers in MN this year.

Something went terribly, terribly wrong here. Murky, turbid appearance. Smells of whiskey and cheese. Taste has a huge lactic twang on top of the whiskey. Bottle #17xx. I have another bottle and am really hoping this was an anomoly.
