From a 750ml bottle. Pours hazed crimson color with a khaki head. Smell is sweet caramel rye spice with toffee, taste follows nose mixed with rye whiskey and wood then hints of vanilla and dark fruit, mouth feel was sweet and boozy with rye whiskey and citrus hops, would love to try an aged tap or bottle.

Look: poured a muddy cloudy brown with a pretty thick frothy head that lasted some amount of time, but not a long time. quite a bit of suspended solids. 3

Smell: carmelly and smells kinda boozy. almost smells like a scotch ale. 3.75

Taste: complex flavor profile. carmel and vanilla flavors balance the boozy redness and whisky notes. nice balance. very nice rounded finish. little bit of oak in there too. 4.75

Mouthfeel: nice weight without being too chewy. mid-low carbonation, but enough to create a very pleasant effervescence. 4

Overall: Lot going on here. very well balanced flavor profile with nice mouthfeel. love the whisky notes and they balance the vanilla very well. love this beer. 4.25

Enjoyed a howler fill of this one. It pours a cloudy and hazy burnt caramel brown with a tan head that quickly fades.
The aroma is bready, caramel, rye, vanilla, spice and booze.
Sweet leads the taste with notes of caramel and honey followed by sharp, peppery rye and a heal;thy hit of booziness. Some rich toffee as it warms.
Mouthfeel is medium and smooth.
What an outstanding beer with the complexities of a very good barleywine.

Thanks to Jeff for this one. 750ml bottle into Night Shift stemware. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a luxurious, .5 finger cream colored head with low retention. Beer is a muddy brown. Lacing is stringy and spotty with good stick and thick, oily, clingy legs. Solid.

Nose is slightly sweet booziness. Hints of molasses, dried dark fruit, oak and plum. Robust and deep. Barelywine-like.

Opens with hints of brown sugar, molasses and a bit of nuttiness. Plum and prunes in the middle with more brown sugar, oak, honey and a sweet booziness. End is layers of sweet resin and dark fruit. Again, like a fine, aged English barleywine.

Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Smooth and silky in the mouth and goes down warm and rich. Finishes messy with an accented, slightly boozy finish. Really good.

I haven't come across a barrel-aged Red Ale before but this is shockingly good. Rich and robust with layers of sweetness and barrel characteristic. A definite find.

This beer pours a muddy reddish brown color with a very tiny tan head. The head fades fast, leaving no lace.

This beer smells of sweet caramel with a nice subtle vanilla. I get some oaky notes as well. Not much whiskey aroma was present.

Thus beer tastes like it smells. The whiskey is a little more noticeable in the flavor than it was in the aroma. It is still very subdued though.

This beer is surprisingly smooth, leaving a vanilla like aftertaste.

Overall this beer was ok. I don't have any issues with it, but at the same time, it isn't making me see stars. Thanks Sarah for giving me the chance to try this one.

Had on tap at the Pig and Fiddle.
L: Pours a slight hazy brown with a thin cream to tan colored foam colar. S: Rich nose with malt, vanilla and a range of sugars from honey to caramel along with a dose of whiskey.
T: Big malt flavors up front mix with whiskey revealing layers of sugars ranging from honey, to malt to caramel seasoned with vanilla.
F: Very creamy, soft in the mouth, above medium body, carbonation below average, almost oily.
O: There is a fair amount of rye left over in the barrel and it does wonderful things with the Libertine. The flavors from the beer, the rye, and the barrels all work very well together. If you can find this, buy it and drink it.
