A - Very dark brown colored pour that's pretty much black in appearance.
S - Oak, roasted chocolate malt, some spicy notes, and light booziness.
T - Spicy, chocolate roast, some char, oak, and finishes more on the sweeter side with some light underlying bitterness. Nice lingering roast on the palate. The spiciness is a definite stand out on the palate.
M - Thick and silky on the palate with a wet finish. There is very little warming on the way down with some slight boozy effervescence permeating up the back of the throat. Very sticky on the lips.
O - An enjoyable sipper right here if you like Imperial Stouts and Cognac.

12 ounce can from the mixed four pack of barrel aged beers.
The appearance is dark, no head to speak of. The smell is pretty subtle, with a bit of the cognac. The underlying stout seems to be quite mild, and not the kind of beer that I think of when I see "Russian Imperial Stout". It's tasty, but not as intense as most RISs. The taste has noticeable cognac, but not so much that it dominates. There's some wood from the barrels. It's not at all sweet, not in the least. It's quite tasty. The body is on the thin side, particularly for an RIS.
Overall, I'd be happy to see another can or two of this, but not being from Minnesota, that's unlikely.

12oz can. Looks like the canning date is stamped '2018-06-27'.
Black colored body, with a tiny edge of mahogany back lit highlight. Thin tan head upon pouring, stays around as active scattered islands. Leaves behind some scattered small spots of lacing.
Smells of dark roasted malts soaked in cognac, with some oak and vanilla.
Taste is dark roasted malts (chocolate especially) that are made sweet by the cognac barrel. Boozy in the aftertaste.
Thicker mouth feel, with mouth coating going on. Good carbonation.
The taste profile is very pleasant until the very end, when the flavor turns quite bitter and turns off the sweet nature experienced earlier. It's tough for me to get past the bitter ending. It's like all the grapes have been stripped of any sugar and expressed only as bitter skins.

From the mixed four pack. Really enjoyed the port aged version, this one is just a step below. A touch thinner and a little boozier are detracttions from the experience I just had with the port aged variant. This version is just fine, maybe a heavy hand from the cognac barrel drowing out some of the pleasing stout characteristics I was looking for. Would drink again however

2018 - Cognac Barrel Aged - From Mixed Barrel Aged 4-pack
12 oz can poured into a snifter.
Appearance
Pitch black. Dark brown head. No light penetration.
Nose
Cognac, charred oak, toffee, pepper, dark chocolate syrup, fig, and date.
Taste
Toasted barley, charcoal, earth, and toffee. Fig, dates, and dark chocolate syrup. Prune juice with a touch of black pepper. Light cognac presence with charred oak.
Mouthfeel
Medium-plus bodied, sweet, silky, oily, smooth, and chalky.
Overall
Smooth barrel aging with a decent base beer, but I expected a bigger "wow factor" from this.

Fulton Cognac Barrel Aged Worthy Adversary RIS, 10% ABV. Pours dark black, with a one finger brown head (surprising since the can had seeped at the crimp). Nose is cognac/grape, and vanilla. Taste is slightly boozy, vanilla, roast malt, oak, with a heavy bitter close. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent.

Number two from the mix pack cube.
The roasty, bitter chocolate stout is not overwhelmed by the tawny, grape-y booze and tingly oak. While balanced, the two elements aren't necessarily 100% harmonious. Apart from a too strong bitter finish, this worked well enough for me though.

Canned on date smudged, but it was sometime earlier this year
Look- pitch black with a thin tan head; a few random spots of lacing
Aroma- dark and milk chocolates, a little smoke, dark fruit (prunes?) and a little cognac
Taste- getting the slightly sweet milk and bitter dark chocolates, very mild woody smoke, dark fruit and slightly sweet cognac all coming together very nicely with no one flavor dominating; also getting a little booziness and a moderate bitterness that balances out the sweetness of the beer
Feel- thick-bodied with a long, bitter finish, along with some alcohol heat
Overall- outstanding BA Imperial Stout in which the malt flavors blend amazingly with the cognac flavors

pours black. Aroma is sweet with chocolate and vanilla. The taste as it smell and is rather quite good. Only a hint of the cognac though. The feel is medium. I really enjoyed this stout.

This beer pours black with a slight brownish tinge and a minimal head. The aroma features a rich strong vanilla, with mild coffee, caramel. The flavor is rich and extravagant, with prune, spruce, cranberry, vanilla, caramel, toffee, fudge, raisin, and butterscotch. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth, with subtle carbonation. Overall this is an excellent beer - way more complex that I was expecting, but also restrained and balance. A truly excellent beer.

Can. Not as good as the port one. This one doesn’t have the sweetness that I like with WA. Cognac and grape forward. Tannins. A little roasty. Chocolate and cocoa. Raisins and figs. Decent, but not really my thing.
