Saw this on the singles wall at the local bottle shop and realized that i had missed maibock season all around...bummer, but glad to try a new one...wasn't expecting much from this brewery insofar as it seems a little outside their wheelhouse. I'm getting more than expected though; all in all, it's a nice beer that hits some good style-markers, but also is a bit distinctive. A little murky and kind of peach, but a good head and great lacing. The nose brings some toasted grain, kind of heavy and wet honeyed bread, and some kind of damp greenery. Kind of strange and a little too much, but not off-putting to me. There's quite a bit going on with the taste: some bready and grainy notes, some medicinal but sweet and surprisingly lively hops...lots of good stuff, but it doesn't quite all sing together in harmony, but I still am enjoying it. Feel is a little heavy and full, though it is plenty lively. Good effort and worth a shot. Makes me want to go out and find some more maibocks.

brewery notes: No goats were harmed in the crafting of this beer.
Winter is almost over, but Spring isn’t here yet. What to do about it? (brew a beer to bridge the seasons, duh!) Our very first Maibock helps usher us into spring by bringing together a base of a bready malt character, floral hop aroma, and a crisp, slight bitterness to keep the finish nice and clean. We took the launch of our latest mixed 12 pack as an opportunity to venture into some new territory. Brewing a Maibock had been an idea we tossed around over the years, but never pulled the trigger on. Now, sipping on this new beer we are left wondering "why'd we wait so long?" IBU: 25

My notes:
Smell: Odd smelling beer. Strong odor, smells good thou. you pick up some green grass/pear/green apple or green something? you get hints of it in the flavor also. you also get sweet malt, toasted bread and plenty of floral notes

taste: follows the nose with a touch of honey mixed in. slightly sweet. but you get some bitter hop notes towards the finish.

I like this beer, it's good. It has plenty of flavor. The flavor is unique and makes this beer standout from the crowd. 3.81/5
