16oz can
Yellow with a red tinge, very fine suspended sediment. Smells like warm malt-o-meal. Warm, grainy, sweet, slight rust, touch of hops, the rotten juice at the bottom of the garbage can
Not a very good brew

Northern Standard pours a nice bronze color, with a large, long lasting lacing head. Aroma is cheap, grainy, sweet, and chemically. Flavor is overly sweet, grainy, cheap, chemically. Good body and feel. Overall, overly sweet, tastes a bit offensive, not too enjoyable.

Poured from a pint can into a Nonic.
Pours medium light amber and crystal clear with an impressive foamy light tan head. It retains decently, and leaves some nice lacing.
Caramel malt and mild toasted aromas along with some biscuit and grass/earthy hops.
Mild caramel malt sweetness on the tip of the tongue gives way to some lightly toasted bread and biscuit in midstream. The sweetness is well-restrained, and the brew rounds out with with some similarly restrained but welcome grassy and earthy hops to balance things out.
Medium-bodied for sure, the brew is still well carbonated and, though not drying at the finish, isn't cloying or sticky.
This is a solid representation of an underrated style that I apparently like more than many. It has plenty of flavor and excellent balance that is almost like a Festbier.
