Aroma has moderate strength. It brings bright citrus and some piney elements, backed by fresh bread.

Amber-orange, somewhat hazy, carbonation is a bit skimpy. I probably was over-gentle with the pour resulting in a ½ inch white head, thick and creamy with an almost nitro appearance. The head has decent retention.

The flavor is pine-forward, with a mild bittering at the start, growing a bit through to the finish. Beneath the pine are the citrus and bread flavors, a little "other" fruits, but the taste is definitely dominated by the resiny pine and bitter hops. This is like a "west coast" style APA (no such thing, but I use that descriptively). Comparing this to SNPA, I like this beer better. I like the up-front unabashed pine and bitterness, cranked up above the somewhat (IMO) subdued SNPA. The finish is dry with a very enjoyable lingering piney bitterness in the aftertaste.

Moderate body, more substantial than many APAs.

Overall, an excellent APA. Well done.

Pale Ale Project #1 pours a dark, clean bronze color, with a small, but with a picturesque long lasting, lacing head. Aroma has a hearty bread note, with hints of vegetation. Flavor is clean, full of bitter, vegetation like hop flavors, a hint of bread on the back. Good body and feel. Overall, this is a very tasty pale ale. Nice strong bitterness, mixed very well with the sweet crisp cereal flavors.

Appearance: Pours a clear, medium orange color with a strong white head. SRM of 10. (3.75)

Aroma: Moderate aromas of citrus, peach tea, and some herbal notes. (3.50)

Flavor: The flavor follows with more orange citrus, peach tea, with a herbal finish. Possibly some caramel malts. A clean and dry finish. Minimal malt body. (3.50)

Feel: Lighter bodied. Moderate carbonation. A clean and dry finish. (3.50)

Compared to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale 8/2/21: Pours a similar, slightly lighter color. More peach tea, fruit, herbs. Less resinous caramel malts. A lighter and cleaner beer. Dryer.

Overall: For the high reputation of the brewery and the devotion to creating a good pale ale, admittedly I was a bit dissapointed by this one. Noted to be dry-hopped with Nelson and Galaxy, the flavor is modest at best. Some mild citrus and peach tea. Minimal malts and body and so it finishes dry. I think it needs a slightly larger malt body here and a more robust hop presence. I'll give it another try on the second one if I see it. (Final Rating: 3.52)

On tap. Copper color. Clear. Off white head with some lace.

A classic pale ale. Grapefruit citrus, pine, floral hops, caramel and bready malts. Sticky and some bitterness. Solid.
