Michigan road trip notes with my MI Yooper buddy to Minnesota. The appearance was a subtle strained dark red sort of look with a sheet of white foamy head. Not much lace. The aroma had some sweet and spicy grains, light floral, some wood and a little bit of earth. Touch of sweet wood and some dried leaves. The flavor had a dry sort of woody sweetness with some rounded vanilla edges to it and some light leather. Light spicy notes and a touch of cereal. Sweet sort of honey aftertaste. Leather biting sort of finish with a little bit of cereal. The palate was about medium bodied with a good sipping sort of quality to it. ABV felt good. Overall, does the trick and if I could get this again, pretty sure I’d want it.

The left over whiskey and the vanilla from the whiskey barrels take Fulton's Libertine up a notch. When it is available, buy as much as you can afford.

This beer arrives a clear bright red color. The head is a quarter inch in height, and recedes quickly into minimal lacing. The aroma is of tons of caramel with a bunch of dark fruit and a nice touch of whiskey. The taste has a more pronounced whiskey presence, but it is still well balanced with the base beer (which I like). The caramel and the cherry really compliment the whiskey well. The mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with soft carbonation, and a silky texture. Overall, this is a really good beer that I will seek out again.

At the taproom.
Little head. Color is a clear dark caramel ruby red. Nice color.
Flavor profile reminds me of a lot of whiskey. The Irish whiskey dominates this beer in a good way. Very sweet and malty in a good way. Some toffee maybe. Bready. There is a little citrus blended in. Finishes with a nice amount of vanilla.
Very warming but smooth. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Ends kind of dry.
Overall, a surprisingly good beer. Very enjoyable if you like Irish whiskey.
