Straight Outta Portland from Migration Brewing. Received from @2beerdogs in a LIF. Reviewed 26/08/25 (Review 3571). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 44.2 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 47.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), slight haze.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), hazy. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Large (Maximum five cm, aggressive center pour). White, high density, average retention, leaving a 0.5 – 0.8 cm crown and a heaped partial cap.
Lacing – Good. Forms a reticulum with islands on the glass.
Aroma – 4 – Resinous with mild citrus overtones. No malt, no alcohol.
Flavor – 4.25 – Begins slightly bitter and resinous. Very mild citrus. No alcohol (7.3 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Slight gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium: Watery: Lively carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated container) Uncredited label artist. Highly drinkable. Flavors are subtle. To me, this drinks more like a pale ale than an IPA. Thanks Derek!

12 oz undated can.
Beautiful golden pour. Fluffy white head pumps 2 fingers of firm foam. Good retention. Layered, almost clumpy lacing.
Nose is a smooth melange of malt and hops. Citrus notes are orange zest, tangerine, and a hint of grassy lime. A mellow pine resin chimes in synchronicity with a slightly sweet malt note.
Flavor follows the nose faithfully. Liking this a lot. Really hitting the hops and malt balance while still allowing for the spotlight to bounce around to the different players. Citrus, pine, malt, mild herb… They all shine.
Mouthfeel is right on for style. Finish has a little bitter with a mild sweet click at the end.

From an undated stovepipe can. Clear golden color with foamy white head. Faint citrus aroma. Medium body. Citrus and honey with a bitter piney finish. Good

timeless take on ipa here, bitter but with enough malt balance, nice and fresh on tap, solid overall but also tastes like a lot of others, not sure this is as unique or as classically portland or anything as the marketing seems to be trying to suggest, but ill drink a pint of it anytime. brass colored beer, not into the red range but more malty than golden, clear for the most part and with a gorgeous more than inch of white head with fine lace and retention, good carbonation too. the nose and taste show some modern hop fruitiness but then also significant northwest bitterness, maybe even enough to roll right over some of the nuance, but i can tease out meyer lemon and tangerine, light coconut and even lemongrass if im reaching, a little bit metallic as it warms, especially on the swallow with the piney high alpha bitterness, some sweetness from the grain beefs it up a little but its bitterness that still wins the day, some fairly assertive linger on this. fresh tasting, middle of the road for body, pretty robust abv but its not a factor in the drinking experience, but this is plenty bold even without that. i like it, its smooth, sweet a little bit, and just distinct enough on the hop side to have some interest, but bitter enough to be homogenized a bit. good but perhaps forgettable, especially in its home market where so much incredible ipa exists. slight edge to the fresh hopped version they do...

Gimme the juice! Aroma has all the right notes—tropical and fruity. Low bitterness, smooth finish. Pineapple and Star fruit and some … berry? Goodness on the finish.

Icy 12 ounce can into a snifter.
Fluffy foam lingers atop this golden brew.
Smells of pine, rind, and medium roast malt.
Tastes good - mouthwatering citrus, beauty hop zap, perfect attention-getting bitter the puck up.
Feels crisp with even carbonation.
Overall, drinks like a champ all day and is a good representation of the Great Northwest USA IPA style.

12oz can from Center Market. Pours out lightly cloudy, golden, fine head fades to patchy coverage. Light hoppy aroma with fruity notes. Taste really pops, hoppy, sweet, piney, citrus. Really grabs the palate and let's the bitterness linger. Solid IPA.

Short lived off white head with scattered lace over a light copper clouded beer.
Tropical hop notes and fruity yeast notes rise above some light orange rind and light dankness.
Wow, bitter white grapefruit rind bites the tongue and is not offset by the rather light malt expression. This is a bitter bomb for me, with tinges of raw pine tossed in along with some rather pronounced produce dept. notes. I get no malt sweetness or counterpoint to the sharp dankness, but a rather strong alcohol note.
Medium body, some ending thickness, dry, astringent, alcoholic finish.
Overall not a favorite for me, too much bitterness and alcohol that is unbalanced for me.

12oz can
Pours a solid two finger white head into my can-style glass. Retention is above average, and a finger of head still remains after a few minutes. Initial lacing looks good. Body is a light golden yellow, crystal clear, with a load of bubbles coming up. Looks quite nice so far.
Nose is fruity, citrus, prominent grapefruit, mango is faint but comes out quite a bit with agitation, a tiny bit of pine, and the smallest sweetness. Not a super imposing nose, but it’s aromatic enough, and it’s quite pleasant. Pretty nice.
Flavor is not too far off that mark, grapefruit, maybe some faint mango, pine in the finish. Small malt presence. This is pretty straight forward, and honestly not a very deep flavor, but it hits the spot, and it’s a pretty good effort for a mid-major brewery’s flagship IPA.
Carbonation is holding at medium. Body is on the lighter side. Maybe a touch of sweetness. Bitterness is moderate. Overall this is pretty effervescent and refreshing, especially on a hot summer night. Definitely checks off the box as a west coast IPA, great mouthfeel.
Drinkability is great, this is crisp and tasty.
Appearance turned out wonderful. Lacing was thick all the way down.
Overall a great go-to west coast IPA. It’s not too flashy, but if you need to crush a lighter IPA that still delivers a good amount of flavor, this will do.
