From the 330 ml bottle in a snifter. This solid BPSA pours a clear golden with a
very nice head of white foam that settles to a thick ring, thick layer, and sports some
nice lacing. Nose of candy sugars, faint banana, fruity yeast esters of oranges and
lemon zest, and light breaded malts. Flavors hit the mark with orange zest, lemon
zest, yeasty breaded malts, subtle banana, light cracker, coriander, and sweet Belgian
candy sugars. Mouth feel is medium, medium light soft carbonation, smooth, and
finishing nicely balanced, subtly sweet, and faintly dry.

Overall, a stellar Duvel imperial which is new to me and the Little Lady....and
very much appreciated!

Cheers

From the bottle, it pours a clear golden color with a modest, long lasting, white head. Some lacing. The nose gets alscohol and some vanilla like scents. The mouth gets a malty mouth filling brew that has notes of alcohol, yeast and spices. Like so many Duvel products, it tastes great but packs a wallop!

The proper way to review this Imperial is side-by-side with the classic. But that is too much ABV for an old man like me to handle; so pardon this short-cut that depends on my memory.

Imperial Looks like the classic (almost since you can't expect a big-rocky head to last too long at 10 ABV.) I find its Smells less fruity than the classic. Tastes are balanced and the ABV is well-concealed... until it is not, which for me came in the finish. Full-Feel and soft among big beers. Have again? For sure... but grab a classic and a friend, too.

As for the excellent Overall Hugs, that mostly is for Duvel. Their management style is brilliant in letting its many micros invent and prosper. A Sante' !

330 ml bottle, as Duvel Brewmasters' Selection Imperial Blond, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10.0%. Fairly clear pale golden colour, large white head. Aroma of spicy Belgian ale yeast, white kandij sugar syrup, alcohol and stewed yellow plums. The flavour has the same elements, but is not too sweet, and surprisingly refreshing for its strength. Moderate hops.

Golden colour, slightly darker than classic Duvel, clear. Foam unchanged, white, high, fine bubbles, persistent.
Strong malty aroma, sweet, grainy with similarly intense, more pronounced hoppy and fruity notes.
Sweet (malty) flavour with a stronger bitterness in the finish. Spicy, peppery bitterness. The flavour is reminiscent of old Duvel, only more pronounced.
Well-balanced alcohol. High carbonation. Full body. Pleasantly smooth texture. Medium-long dry aftertaste.

33cl bottle , typlical Duvel, other label though, limited edition, 10% abv, a bit stronger than the regular one. (8,5%?)
Excellent carbonation, lucious white foam. Opaque amber colour. A bit darker than the classic.
Smell a bit malty, soft sweet nutty tones.
Yeast develops.
Round flavoured and more sweet than the classic.
But well, I love the sharp yeasty edgeniss of the classic.
Very good beer anyway.
