Every Fall, we eagerly await a call from Four Star Farms in Northfield, Massachusetts letting us know that hop harvest has begun. Within 24 hours of harvest, whole cone hops arrive in our brew house. We pack the hop back mutiple times throughout the brew in order to infuse the fresh hop flavors and aromas. At a hoping rate of 5 pounds per barrel, this lager is a showcase for local, freshly picked hops.

This was a pleasant surprise, as I didn't know Wormtown did fresh hop beers....and this is a lager, nonetheless! Looks like apple cider; cloudy and like a burnt sienna. A bit past its prime being almost three months old, but still plenty tasty. Dank, resinous, fruity. This one is a bit chewy. Super smooth and creamy finish with a hint of carbonation. Probably similar to Hoponius Union, the hop profile is very nicely paired with a delicious malt bill and that clean lager character throughout.

Canned 9/27/18
Pours a nice foamy thicker 1 finger head nice retention and lacing, hazy reddish orange color
Nose fresh hops, little grassy floral, fruity, citrus, cascadian like, citrus rind, hint grapefruit, pine, little sweet malt
Taste more fresh hops, Cascadian again little pine and grassy, mild floral, fruity citrus rind, little grapefruit pith, turning more piney, toasted grainy amber malts, little sweetness and fair bitterness, mild soft lager but not a lot, drier finish pretty spicy piney hop
Mouth is med bod little soft lager, decent carb
Overall ok, nice fresh hops but base lager seems a little meh, and the hops come a bit too aggressive
