Table Talk Pies and Wormtown Brewery join forces again to bring you another pie-inspired beer collaboration! We designed the base beer to capture the essence of bready pie crust and fresh blueberry filling.

We added 30 blueberry-lemon pies (one pie per barrel), and an abundance of blueberry puree. This culminates in a refreshing fruit beer bursting with flavors of fresh picked blueberries, golden pie crust, and bright, tart lemon peel! Cheers to Worcester businesses working together!

In my experience Wormtown is a very hit or miss brewery. I've drank much more of their stuff than I've actually reviewed and I'm equally torn between liking them or not. This one I just grabbed on a whim, but things aren't looking too promising score-wise here. Maybe it'll surprise me, but we'll soon find out

Pours a cloudy orange gold with 2 fingers of creamy white head that fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing

Sometimes the pie crust vibe in beers like this can be overbearing, and that's exactly what's happening here. I'm picking up on aromas of graham cracker, coriander, doughy malt, lemon peel, wheat, white pepper, and very light blueberry

Thankfully it's a lot more palatable in taste. It's nothing spectacular but it sure as hell beats the aroma. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting lemon juice, pie crust, bready malt, and light tannic blueberry. The swallow brings notes of lemon yogurt, pie crust, doughy malt, sweet blueberry, and light vanilla

A medium body pairs with gentle prickly carbonation, resulting in a tangy beer. Finishes a bit sticky but is balanced by the tartness

Despite the weird, somewhat puke-y, aroma, this is decently enjoyable. Not something I'd go out of my way to have again, but I wouldn't turn it down either

I'm not getting any blueberry, lemon or pie from this beer. No beer flavor either. Just lactic acid. I suppose it's good for a sour but I don't like sours.

I didn't know it was a sour when I bought it. It doesn't say it is anywhere on the can (had to look it up on the brewers website). If I knew it was a sour in the store I probably wouldn't have bought it. It's too bad they didn't use normal yeast because I was really looking forward to a lemon pie beer.

The pour is a color with a bit of haze and a fizzy, sudsy white head that is SCREAMING sour. The nose confirms that this is some sort of sour, but what is that in the background - coffee? Dark chocolate? I’m beyond intrigued.

The taste is indeed deliciously sour, and I’m getting an espresso coffee flavor, so I am officially calling this my first ever coffee sour and I’m placing this firmly in 4.25 range. This is really tasty.

Thanks to rudzud for picking this up on Pi day
Pours a med-large foamy frothy pinkish head with moderate retention, fair soapy lacing, very hazy cloudy reddish-pinkish color

Nose some souring lacto funk, little yogurt, Belgian blonde malts and wheaty, light pastry dough, touch of blueberry, hint of lemongrass, little bit of fruity pebbles cereal

Taste brings more tart lacto souring like notes, then big fruity pebbles but a weird bitter fruity pebbles, with lemon zest, fruity candy yogurt, quite sweet like way more than it needs to be, med bitterness that also gets irritating, touch of acidity, a huge mash of clashing flavors

Mouth is med to lighter bod, flemmy and dry astringent finish somehow at the same time, bit acidic, high carb

Overall this was a huge mess, way too many things going on and somehow they all clashed.

Picked up a four pack of this at the brewery on March 14, Pi Day.

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice hazy golden ruby grapefruit hue with a slightly pink coloured two finger head that fades to leave light lacing and a thin blanket. Love the color and retention.

S - Aromas of almost Blonde Ale like notes, some crackery malts. Though that could be from the actual pie crusts that were used here as they dumped whole blueberry lemon pies in here. There is a little bit of lemon citrus so I guess there is some lemon pie like aroma but not getting any blueberry.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with an almost Blonde Ale like flavour profile. Some creamy wheat, pie crust flavour, little bit of citrus and lemon. Little bit of sweetness. Not getting much in the way of blueberry other than maybe a little bit of a floral perfume like fleeting blueberry on the finish.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, crisp, clean.

O - Overall this beer was an utter disappointment. They added blueberry puree to this too and it's still lackluster in that department. I mean, it's a fine 'beer' (as in rather drink it than some macro lager junk) but as far as execution wise this is utterly terrible. It's even doubly terrible as the actual pie Table Talk released for this event, a blend of their lemon and their blueberry pie filling, was criminally delicious. I now struggle to think of a occurrence in recent memory that I had a Wormtown beer worth buying that wasn't Be Hoppy. A shame.
