Poured from a 650 ml at the BT taproom
Arbre de Vie is a bourbon barrel-aged version of Boucanee with apples.
A- amberish color with a small light tan head.
S- the smoky, campfire smell hits you first but you also get a hint of the fruity apple flavor.
T- let me start by saying that this beer has quite a few things going on. You do get the smokiness reminiscent of Boucanee but the oaky bourbon barrel (I believe they used Buffalo Trace) blends in nicely. Also, more than in the nose, the fruitiness of the apples mixes in there as well. At only 7% abv, you don't get the big alcohol boozy burn as some other BBA beers have.
M- very interesting! Lighter side of medium mouthfeel with a slight tartness from the apples.
O- this is a beer that needs a few tastes before you can fully comprehend all the difference in flavors. A nice addition to their barrel-aged lineup.
