On tap at Congregation Ale House in Pasadena, CA.

Billed as a black ale brewed with apricots.

Pours an opaque dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Thin rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and sour apricot flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with an interesting concept but the apricot presence is subtle all around.
