750 ml bomber served fairly cold into a pint glass. Bottled November 1, 2016. Purchased from the LCBO for $11.95 CDN. Hope it is worth it. Review from notes as this was sampled on December 18.
Appearance - Pours a dark amber color with a thin finger of white head and modest retention.
Smell - Vanilla and cinnamon duo. Fruitcake. Very winter warmer-ish. Not a big nose for a purported higher ABV. Nose remains fairly quiet even when the beers warms up some.
Taste - Like the nose, but significantly bolder and more intense. Buttery flavor coats all of this, leading you to think it is some sort of winter dessert. I imagine would pair quite nicely with any sort of Christmas baking. Gingerbread and rye show up here a little too.
Mouthfeel - Smmoth and well carbonated, buttery texture and a medium-heavy body. Alcohol burn feels about right for a 8% ABV brew.
Overall - Not quite worth the price tag, but the flavor combinations are really nice, despite making up for a lacking nose. Easily one of my favorites by these guys, if not my favorite. Worth a try, but the cost might be a little prohibitive.
