A flavorful refreshing session beer. Balanced but with a firm hop bitterness, low hop character, and a touch of fermentation character from the yeast. it also has a complex biscuity, toasty, nutty malt character in the background.

On-tap at the brewpub. An accompaniment to brisket.
A: The ESB is a brown color, lighter in hue and more like a brown ale. Hazy, the ale is opaque. A thin head, although probably the largest head of the lot, is wispy.
S: The nose is dominated by toffee and nuts, a solid malt foundation that overwhelms most of the earthy hoppiness underneath. Politely sweet.
T: Toffee and caramel in spades, a sweet malty beer that doesn't shy away from the grains. Yeast adds to the body, more of a continental flavor. Overall the ale is very smooth, aided immensely by that malt sweetness.
M: The mouthfeel is nearly syrupy, heavy on the toffee and English malt bill. That being said, its full flavor is a jolt of reality after the Summer ale. A good beer, but not one that I'd pair with barbeque.
