This is the the non barrel-aged version of Genealogy of Morals, conditioned in stainless steel. Dark, rich and smooth, it’s complex flavors belie the singular vision with which we create it—echoing the work the inspires it. For this selection of Genealogy, our stainless-conditioned coffee imperial stout (the base beer for Genealogy of Morals), we have chosen to condition the beer atop San Fermin from the Tolima region of Colombia, sourced and roasted by The Coffee Collective in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Had some at the Hill just a few days ago. Retired but they have some at the tasting room. Outstanding and so glad I tried it. Smooth, overwhelmingly works. To bad it’s been retired. Sipping beer though and glad to do so.

Snagged a 750ml growler at the brewery on a beautiful Saturday in August. Never thought I'd make the drive up from MA but I was heading up to VT to camp anyway, so I figured I'd finally visit the new and improved facility. First and only other time I've been was maybe 2012/2013 when it was basically a garage.
Extremely excited to see a version of GoM available, regardless of package/format. Nursed the growler from a teku glass for over four hours throughout the evening. What a special beer. The complexity and depth are just stunning, with layer upon layer of perfectly roasted malt, heavy dark chocolate, and delicately roasted coffee beans. The flaws present in other beers of this style just don't show up while drinking this masterpiece. Nose is a bit boozy with plenty of molasses and brown sugar. The flavor is just so darn rich and sweet without being overpowering. Sip after sip you fall in love with it. Feel and finish are sublime; creamy and dense yet approachable. It's funny that I didn't hesitate at the $20 price tag for the growler; that's the clout of a brewer and brewery of this magnitude. The legacy and craftsmanship are borne out in that price tag. Wish it could have been a 2L growler.

I wasn’t planning to buy a growler of this but one sniff off the sample and game over. This is one of the best coffee stouts I’ve ever tasted. The aroma is beautiful, I wish I had these beans and couldn’t help but wonder what a cupping would smell like. The flavor is rich, sweet, not too thick and addictive. This might be the best HF beer I’ve tasted.

750 ml. growler from the brewery.
Best before Aug 20 2019.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a tan head over a near black body with some sheet lacing. Nose of roasted malt, roasted coffee, with slight dark fruit, dark chocolate, and nuts. Taste is near perfect with a complexity that will be hard to beat (or even explain!) Flavors of dark fruit, dark chocolate, bitter chocolate, chocolate covered peanuts, chocolate covered raisins, coffee, espresso, and a richness heretofore rarely seen. Feel of velvet fullness and overall, a wonderful experience.
Cheers!

Split with JLindros.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown almost black with a thin mocha head that fades to leave light wisps and a thin blanket.
S - Big aromas of earthy and fruity coffee, lovely roasty and dark. Nice dark chocolate. Awesome roast and dark chocolate. Really fruity, super aromatic.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of slightly sweet malts and roast. Great fruity chocolate, really bright acidity and roast. Dark bakers chocolate, alcohol hidden nicely. Lovely fruity chocolate.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, creamy, great body.
O - Overall this was a very solid coffee stout. Excellent chocolate and coffee going on here. Just incredibly well balanced and brewed. Wish I bought more.
