Notes:
This brand new series promises to include a wide-ranging assortment of blended beers, exploratory aging techniques, and distinctive ingredient pairings, with imaginative artwork by our life-long friend and collaborator, Alex Peltz of Peltz Creative. For the series debut, we offer Nonconformist 01, a Farmstead® India Pale Ale brewed with organic Maine wheat, organic flaked oats, and generously hopped and then dry-hopped with Citra®, Simcoe®, Mosaic®, and Hallertau Blanc. Conditioned in oak barrels for 11 months, it has been allowed more than two years of bottle conditioning prior to release.

This one pours a hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells soft tart grapefruit, guava, passionfruit, funky lemon, oak, white wine, orange, and vanilla.
This feels like sort of a "super" version of the various Self Reliances they've been doing lately, with a bigger hop character alongside a deeper funk. There's some vanilla, almost orange creamsicle like flavor from the barrel and the hop character, with minerally funk, grapefruit, oak, and lots of white wine.
This is light bodied, clean, and creamy, with a great drinkability.
As I really tend to enjoy the Self Reliances, I obviously am going to really enjoy this one.

750 mL bottle. Slightly hazy pale orange. Smells of pungent grapefruit, oak, hints of lime acidity. Tastes of grapefruit, basement funky yeast, lemon lime tartness and grapefruit tartness. All the citrus. Very nice. HF does a great job with these barrel aged pale ales.

Fairly cloudy, medium light orange, with a hint of light golden overtones. Thin white head. Tangy, tart and a bit sour & musty , guava, pineapple, with the slightest amount of a caramelized, medium toasted malt, in the aroma. Slightly thin body and level of flavors. Lightly sour, with tinge of bitterness, to start off the taste. Flavors of moderately sour, guava & mango juice, with the barrel giving it some woody sharpness. Finish is the sour tropical fruit, with some of the oaken sharpness.
