The next in our series of harvest season selections features a blend of our Farmstead® ales—all of which rested in oak for more than a year—harmonized with organic blueberries from Merrill Blueberry Farms in Ellsworth, Maine, and red raspberries Fisher Brothers Farm in Shelburne, Vt., from the 2020 harvest season.⁣

This one pours a dark-ish purple/reddish color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

Blueberry is not always Hill Farmstead’s strongest fruit to use with these beers, but luckily this smells pretty great – with jammy dark berry aromas, lemon, and red wine.

The blueberry and raspberry are pretty evenly matched, with each sort of melding into the other, giving off just a general jammy and tart dark berry note. There’s some earthy wine barrel here, and a pleasantly citrusy tartness.

This is light bodied, very crisp and clean, and not all that tart. This is nice, as sometimes Hill Farmstead fruited beers can get real acidic.

This is honestly one of the better of the fruited Harvest beers – a series that’s been real up and down.

375 ml bottle. Deep red, just about purple. Deep vinous notes, earthy blueberry, hints of green aromas, but minimal. Tastes of wine, blueberry, earthy berry flavors, raspberry tartness. Finishes with deep earthy flavors and a little bit of rubber. This has an excellent blueberry flavor. Yes, there are a few flavors around the edges that are problematic, but the fruit flavor is so good that I forgive it. Excellent and a pleasant improvement over the beers in this series.
