To continue honoring the memory of Damon (1993-2004), we craft an imperial stout from time to time and condition it in barrels. On occasion, a unique and revelatory blend emerges by happenstance, one that excels unexpectedly and sets itself apart from what we have come to know as Damon. Thus, a Riserva selection emerges.
In the manifestation of Riserva Two, a portion of the blend—brewed in 2015—rested in bourbon barrels from our favorite distillery for nearly four years and then for an additional two years in freshly emptied Tawny Port barrels; the second portion represents a singular selection that spent more than two years in bourbon barrels.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a very small head, and not much lacing.
This smells mildly roasty, with black cherry, port, tobacco, caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, and oak.
This is much sweeter than Riserva One, as the port feels like more of a dominant and present feature of the flavor profile. I say it’s sweeter than the other beer, but as modern stouts go, it’s not that sweet. There’s lots of port here – tobacco, black cherry, and a nice dry oaky spice. There’s less bourbon, but I do get some caramel and leather notes. There’s some sherry notes, lots of dark chocolate, molasses, and a touch of roast.
This is medium bodied, lightly carbonated but not still, with a soft and chewy mouthfeel.
This was a really nice Damon variant, but it definitely paled in comparison to Riserva One, which was honestly masterful.
