22 fl oz bottle sealed with a green pressure cap.

poured into HF wine stem.

Appearance: onyx black body. medium brown head that stacks up 2 fingers tall. Good staying power on the head. Head eventually drops down to thin cap and leaves spotty lacing on the glass.

Smell: Very roasty with a hint of smoke. Definately has that foriegn / export stout roasty nose. Milk chocolate, black olives, and perhaps some oat notes?

Taste: Coffee is not huge in this beer. The base stout seems to stand out more than the sumatra coffee does. It is hard to get the distinct notes of the Sumatra coffee. You do get a little bit of nuttiness and earthy flavor from the coffee. Mild roast profile and mild smoke too; both from the stouts malts I would say. Hint of cola in the finish and the beer ends slightly sweeter than it is roasty. As this beer warms to room temp, you start to get the coffee and coffee creamer flavor happening. This beer tastes the best at room temperature.

Mouthfeel: On the lighter end of a medium bodied stout. Low, but adequate level of carbonation. The beer has a creamy, yet thin mouthfeel that is slightly contradictory. No booze from this stout.

Overall: After drinking Carpe Diem, I really wanted to get into another coffee beer by this brewery. Thank goodness they offer another coffee beer! As an added bonus, I really enjoy Sumatra coffee. Anticipation for greatness is pretty high. I was hoping for a more coffee forward stout, but Madhouse took the balanced approach with this coffee stout.

Good morning, BA.

This beer pours a dark chocolate brown with a quickly diminishing head leaving a creamy beige moss on top.

Aroma is properly balanced and executed with dark chocolate, coffee, and almonds. It smells a lot like chocolate covered coffee beans. Hints of oat and lactose also accompany the aroma.

Flavor is intense with lots of fresh ground coffee bean up front, followed with a shot of lactose, some milk chocolate, and finally a roasty finish that wraps up the whole profile nicely.

Feel is heavily carbonated which helps this beer along quite nicely and has a roasted feel to it. Slightly dry on the finish.

Overall this is a winning coffee beer. I'd have another, and I'll probably be buying more!

a- dark with slight amber hues. two finger tight frothy head.

s- sweet roasted barley and dark roasted coffee.

t- sweet chocolaty stout. chocolate covered raisins. sweet slightly bitter finish.

m- smooth with a slightly dry finish. very nice.

o- very nice. better at just under room temp . for those who enjoy a brown porter or stout this beer seems to bring sweet coffee roasts together with raw earthy roasted barley to bring out the best of both styles. the coffee is just a bonus.
