2017's issue pours a brown liquid that forms into a chocolate brown-black, reaching more obsidian towards the center. The head is a beautiful reddish brown with a sliver of head remaining.

Aromas are of fresh breakfast blend coffee, foil-wrapped chocolates, Hershey's syrup, and whole milk. Awesome.

Flavor leaves a little to be desired, coming off very aggressive to start with a rush of alcohol and black licorice. These flavors buzz on the tongue like a swarm of angry bees, with faint suggestions of Kahlua and whiskey barrel. Once you swallow it, the aftertaste of Hershey's syrup and blended coffee politely wave goodbye. Still, the alcohol burns off any flavor, it's just too aggressive.

Feel is hot, boozy, and alive with carbonation. A drying finish.

Overall, a decent sipper, but while the nose is amazing, the flavor brings it down a few points. Very burnt and alcohol-like. That 13% is not hidden well at all.

I'm not usually into barrel aged beers but this one was an exception. Super strong maple smell when we opened the bottle. The first thing I noticed when tasting it was sticky sweet maple with some coffee and chocolate. I did taste a little bit of alcohol too. I really liked this and would drink it again.

Have a few people tell i need to check this out, poor mans kbbs, let's do it!

750 into a perfect stout glass. 2017 vintage. the way the label reads it's got bourbon barrel maple in it too.

looks great! all black with a khaki colored 5 inch head!

maple upfront, followed by coffee, bourbon, and ends with vanilla sweetness. starts a bit muted but opens nicely

boom! flavor burst punch to the face! huge maple, coffee, vanilla and some bourbon. layers and layers of different flavors and never gets too sweet.

feel is good, medium in the thickness range. good carb, definitly coats the tongue. abv is absolutely hidden.

overall this guy is stellar! reminds me a lot of drunken vigils, except this one actually had maple. bourbon barrel aging sends it to the next level. this is world class and should definitly, finally put madhouse on the map.

Dark pour, coffee nose, solid body, coffee, maple & barrel flavor. Excellent!

L: black motor oil. Khaki head

S: huge maple smell. Almost pancakes with syrup.

T: even more maple. Like syrup blended with whiskey. But I'm a good way. Great flavor.

F: oily and tongue covering. Maybe it could be a tad thicker.

O: great beer. Love the maple flavor.

This one is a true hidden gem. Pitch black. Nose is a coffee and maple explosion. Taste follows right in line. A wold class offering. If there's a weekness, it's that the mouthfeel isn't quite to that Toppling Goliath motor oil level yet. But god damn, this shit is fire!!! Get you some!!!
