not bad at all, but really samey, and overall not one of my favorites ive had from this very capable operation. its brick red in color, relatively clear, short tan creamy head on it, fresh enough, some minerals approaching metallic as it sits. the nose is basic too, minerals again, even some soil notes grounding it, not too sweet from the malt, crystal rich and lightly caramelized sure, but also a but toasted and dry, bready and healthful, perhaps a bit of a multigrain base, although its also quite subtle and pretty straightforward, light maple and honey notes to it as well. the flavor follows, but it feels thinner than it smells, and maybe lighter than the flavors call for. very little hops to this, a cleaner ferment than i found on their cream ale, but a rather basic pint overall, generic malty beer made for sessioning, i get it, especially in this market, but i know these guys to be a bit more ambitious than this, even in basic styles. maybe this one needs a food context, some bar snacks, mixed nuts, popcorn, something salty and hearty, even a bavarian pretzel or something, by itself it seems wanting or lacking, but its not poorly made...
