Had this beer on tap at the brewery tap room.
Appearance: Comes out a hazy lightish brown with ruby highlights and half a finger of light tan head. Retention and lacing are just okay. Looks like a pretty weak porter at this point.
Smell: Light roastiness, some chocolate and florals. Not getting much else. They were popping a shitload of popcorn by the time I had this beer and it was really screwing up my ability to review it, at least in the smell category.
Taste: The taste completely exceeded my expectations. A medium amount of roastiness, light char, a good deal of chocolate bring up the front and middle. A nice floral twang on the back end. Really a superbly done porter in this category, especially when compared with how it looked and smelled. 4
Mouthfeel/Overall: Medium bodied with nice fine carbonation. It stops just short of being creamy. Again when comparing the feel to the look and smell, it's quite surprising. Overall, a pretty solid porter. I like it a lot.
