Bottled 2/18/16; drank 3/23/16 @ the Yarchives.
Semi-opaque pale orange appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.
A rough pour yielded a small bright white head; minimal lace.
Vanilla, banana & fresh apple notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Banana & vanilla flavors up front; fresh apple & faint booze heat notes on the finish.
A delightful golden ale; perhaps that's a damning statement, given my ambivalence for the genre, but I enjoyed this all the same.

Surprisingly easy going down for a whopping 9.8% abv. Very hazy with lots of dead yeast sediment. Has a malty flavor with a bit of a saison quality. Has a bit of lemon tang...but I may be enjoying this a bit too cold since i left it in the freezer.

I picked up a bottle of Oddside's Flash Golden for $2.39 at The Lager Mill. I'm always down to try a new beer from Oddsides, so lets see how this one turns out. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle int a teku.
A- The label looks ok, it's a little weird, but it does go with the name and it's a little eye catching. It poured a nice golden color that took on a little bit of golden orange color when held to the light with with a fingers worth of bubbly off white head that died down to a thin ring that quickly faded away and it didn't leave much lacing behind. This is a decent looking beer, but I wish it had better head and retention.
S- The aroma starts off with a lower amount of medium sweetness with the belgian yeast being the first o show up and it imparts a typical estery aroma and it's followed by a little bit of a stonefruit and orange rind aroma. Up next comes some bready, grainy and biscuit like malt aromas that linger towards the end. This beer has a decent aroma, but it;s a little bland for the style.
T- The taste seems to be very similar to the aroma and it starts off with a lower amount of medium sweetness with the belgian yeast still being the first to show up and it imparts the same aspects that it did in the aroma, but it's just a little lighter. Up next comes the fruits which show up the same amount that they did in the aroma wit the stonefruits sticking out the most this time. Up next comes the malts which impart the same aspects, but they show up just a little more. On the finish there's a slight watery flavor with hardly any bitterness and it had some yeast and malty flavors in the aftertaste. This is an Ok tasting beer, it's very average for the style.
M- Not too smooth, not too crisp, a little flat, medium bodied with a lower amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel wasn't that great, it needs more carbonation.
Overall I thought this beer was just ok and It's an average at best example of the style, it's not horrible, but the flavors and aromas don't come together that well. This beer didn't have good drinkability, half a glass is enough for me. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance aroma, they weren't great, but they were still the highlight of this beer. What I liked the least about this beer was the carbonation, it was pretty flat. I wouldn't buy this beer again and I would turn it down, it's just not for me and I wouldn't recommend it. All in all I wasn't a fan of these one, everything seemed average at best and didn't come together like a good Golden Ale should. It's one of my least favorite Oddside beers and it's average at best for the style. Better luck next time guys, this one could use some work.

12 oz. bottle, bottled on 02/18/2016. Another new one to me from Odd Side Ales; excited to finally see this brewery has arrived in Illinois.
Poured into a Duvel tulip snifter.
A - Crisp golden pour, lots of carbonation steadily streaming topside, with some sediment visible in the glass. About one finger of frothy white head with decent staying power, and leaves good stick fluffy lacing behind. Looks very nice for what it is.
S - A yeasty, estery aroma. Notes of biscuit / bready malts, and banana, clove, and yeast-derived spiciness.
T - Crisp & creamy flavor profile. Grains, wheat, banana, clove, cream, pear, apple, and some alcohol / booze heat on the finish. A creamy apricot / yeast flavor profile takes over. Mild earthy hop note in there somewhere. A complexly layered and flavored beer.
M - Feel is smooth, medium-full, thickish. Easy to drink for the high abv.
Overall, an interesting and complex example of the style from Odd Side Ales.
