I am trying this beer off the tapper at the Boise, Idaho location as part of a four sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with thin ecru head which did not leave lace. The beer was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Can received from @beersnake1 in Bif15

Genesis date 6.16.21, opened 5.12.22, poured into a smog city snifter…also from him

Brewers notes :Quit Stalin made its way into more regular production after glowing reviews and popularity although its distribution remains limited. Without being astringent, a solid roasty backbone, full body, and absolute velvet finish round out hints of nutty toffee and chocolate. The barrels impart fantastic oak and vanilla characteristics, and a muted hop aroma allows the caramel maltiness to shine. Akin to many of our 4Seasons beers, as it shares the same barrels and is often the base used for 4Seasons blending

Dark cola liquid, one finger brown foam cap, very good retention that settles to a pencil thick layer

Aroma is bourbon , bourbon whisky, chocolate

Taste is bourbon, dark fruits, fig, plums, raisins, brown sugar, licorice, char , roast malts , oak , toffee, vanilla

Bit of booziness that detracts from the overall score , not too much heat, has a smoothness and creaminess, finishes with a slight char bitterness

Good beer

Am not familiar with this brewery, but this appears to be what I'm drinking. It comes in a red nitro can, with Quit Stalin on the backside. In any event...

The beer pours a fairly dark brown color with light lacing, but impressive head retention. Considering that this beer is a nitro version, I expected a more impressive appearance. But it otherwise looks attractive enough. On the nose, I pick up considerable vanilla, milk chocolate, a hint of licorice and some light underlying bourbon. It's a bit one dimensional and simple, but it's attractive enough as well. The flavor profile replicates the pretty closely, but with the bourbon much more noticeable. This beer is actually a bit boozy, which wasn't something I expected given the nose. It's also fairly sweet, though no where close to the sweetness one encounters in a pastry stout. Mouthfeel is fairly full, though the flavors seem a bit disjointed. It's fairly smooth on the moderately long finish, with the alcohol fairly well integrated into the flavor profile (though there's definitely some noticeable heat). If I were to try this blind, I doubt I would guess this beer is a nitro version.

Not entirely sure what to make of this beer. While obviously not a top tier BA stout, it's not bad. I'm pretty sure this is the first ba impy stout I've ever seen on nitro in a can. So that's kind of interesting and intriguing. While I'm glad I had a chance to try it, I'm fairly certain this isn't something I'll need to revisit any time soon.

a barrel aged beast, on tap at the brewery in nampa yesterday evening, tasty and huge, but for me the least impressive of the three barrel aged offerings i had while i was in, it seems heavy, murky, boozy, less refined than their best, lots of oak but also some tannins, plenty of malt sweetness lingering, and really not something i could drink very much of, less smooth and tidy than i look for in these, but a hearty and warming cold weather brew that definitely has some appeal, i just thought it paled in comparison to their four seasons stout with the coffee on nitro, an absolutely wonderful specimen! there isnt much head on this, and its not real well carbonated, to me a little still and sticky for what it is, it either needs more life or to be drier, a little dense as it is. lots of chocolate to the grain profile, a little bitter almost burnt roast character, and some of the barrel char as well. kind of a generic whiskey profile to this, a little corn sweetness, vanilla and honey richness, and then all the alcohol, which does stand out here quite a lot. its not bad beer, its just devoid of the kind of nuance i like in these, it doesnt stand out from the crowd, no distinguishing element, and could use just a little cleaning up. that said, i really only think this because the others were so good, and perhaps that is unfair to this one, which is more of a classic interpretation of the style. for me though its good without being anything special...

edit: had a more recent vintage at the new downtown location this weekend and was much more impressed, better texture, better overall refinement, less residual sugar, less exposed alcohol, i think this has been improved, and am raising a few scores to reflect that. really good now, nicely done!

DATE: October 20, 2018... OCCASION: having returned home after celebrating Mom's 79th birthday, looking to warm up a cold night with a heavy offering... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... pours from a day-old grunt an eight-ball black body with an off-white head that rings to a reasonably thick halo... an intense bourbon aroma hits the nostrils, vanilla, toffee, chocolate, roasted malts, light coffee bean and milky lactose--BIG, bold, and varied enough to evoke the promise of something complex... first draw is smooth, slightly textured, full-bodied, creamy and thick at the throat with a graveled finish of coffee... some bite at the teeth as well... the coffee is most prominent, while the vanilla, toffee, creamy caramel, and thick chocolate make for a flavorful dessertif... this wins, with its 10.5% (though 11.7%, according to Liquor Factory's board) warming while providing a fulfilling complexity... my first Mother Earth experience is a welcome experience....

Draft at Red Feather. Near black pour, with creamy beige head. Roast grain aroma gives way to a stronger taste. Alcohol heat comes out too. Coffee notes. Nice finishing bitterness. Not too strong.

Picked up a 16 oz Mason Jar from the Craft Beer Quick Stop on 10-21-17 for $6.00.

Beer poured black as night with a solid tan head that has a tad bit of residual hang time.

Nose is roasted malts, a touch of bourbon, and a touch of dark cocoa.

Taste is cocoa forward, roasted malts, light bourbon, vanilla, and a touch of leather.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and pretty smooth.

Overall a very nice beer that i am glad to have the opportunity to try!

Can't find much info on this brew...some reports say bourbon barrel aged? On tap at Bier:Thirty, Boise ID.

The beer is dark brown with light showing through the edges of the glass; fluffy off-khaki head. Aromas of big chocolate, milk chocolate and some cocoa...milky sweetness, medium roast...caramel? Decent sweetness. Taste is a bit different...I get some booze, char...burnt caramel? Doesn't seem to be barrel-aged. Again, medium roast, and an underlying milk/sweetness character. Medium/+ body and dryer finish.

Overall it's ok but it didn't follow the nose the way I thought? Would try again.

On tap at the Bottle Room, Whittier, CA.
Notes say BBA. Oh yeah.
Big and near black. Very small bubbles forming a loose foam that soon gives up.
Smells mix and meld. Smoky baker's cocoa, some Bourbon sweetness, dark coffee roast and hints of charred barrel.
Taste is even better. The cocoa, Bourbon, and roast all move around, sharing the spotlight. Hints of toasted caramel shine through as well but then give away to the roast and cocoa. This is where it shines. It has that full, round, not sweet cocoa flavor. And the roast plays well here. But for sweetness, in comes a bit of Bourbon. Really well balanced. A mild heat comes through as well.
Mouthfeel is a tad chewy yet it finishes somewhat slick.
Overall, I'm going to try this one again.
