Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. Teku glass
Price: $3.49
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: July 11, 2021
Consumed: July 30, 2021
Misc.: Canned on June 24, 2021 at 11:50 a.m. PT
Grabbed a can of this and some other stuff while looking for some North Park cans at Windmill Farms. I’ve always had a soft spot for Mother Earth beers but have really been enjoying their hazy beers lately. Their website called this “Put plainly, it’ll give your cerebral cortex a proper workout. Coming in at 7.2% ABV and 28 IBUs, Cognitive Aerobics is loaded with aromas and flavors of tropical fruit, navel orange, lemon peel, and melon.” Mentioned hops were Nelson, Moteuka, Citra and Amarillo.
Poured a medium yellow-to-light golden hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Could see plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Good spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Initial smell was pretty damn good. Motueka jumped out, followed by Nelson, and lesser Amarillo and Citra. Also peach, stone fruit, melon, tangerine, lemon peel, pear and white grape. A little more stone fruit and peach from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. Motueka still led the way, followed by peach, stone fruit, melon, caramel, Nelson, lemon peel, white grape, tangerine, Amarillo, pear, Citra and lingering spice. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Underrated this slightly on smell and taste, but I really liked this. Outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)

this is downright amazing, mother earth has been great with the rotating hazy stuff, but this one is next level, among the best beers ive ever had from them frankly, wow. the hop profile is so unique, and despite this looking kind of starchy and heavy, it doesnt drink that way. short lived white head from the can, pretty good density to this, straw colored, some bubbles showing, apparently lots of body. the nose is impressive, i dont know what the hops are but they seem southern hemisphere driven to me, kiwi and white wine grape, lemongrass and lime leaf, guava and tangerine, maybe galaxy or rakau, unique and complex fruit profile with a little fresh pine backing. it pops. the grain smells earthy and a bit raw, even doughy, but lighter than it looks and dry for sure. the flavor is awesome, fully hop forward with just some light cereal flavor from the grain and less body than it looks like it has. the hops hint at coconut flesh, sweet orange, and something herbal, almost a dill thing to me, slightly sweet in the middle, oily and resinous, heavily dosed but not green to me, wonderfully fresh. maybe just a little soupy on the grain side, but this hop profile more than makes up for that, its so good and so unique i can hardly set me glass down, super modern and vibrant, peachy and weedy as it warms, just so juicy. very impressive overall here, one of my favorite local ipa types all year so far, great with pizza, and a beer i hope to be able to drink again. mother earth nailed this one!

Sharp citrus aroma right out of the can; grapefruit, I guess. I like getting a blast of fragrance before even tasting it. Unique texture - poured almost thick. Great mouth feel; very interesting. Keep licking my lips. Color of apple cider. Bitter aftertaste and a little high on alcohol. Drinking 1/2 of 16 oz can and will put the rest in the fridge to allow some of the carbonation to release and will taste again.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Hazy golden pour, little bit of head fades to a patchy skin of fine bubbles. Light, zesty citrus peel aroma, grapefruit and lemon. Taste does not deviate too much, fruity, citrusy flavors with a little zip for a tangy finish.

Canned 6/24/21, bought off of a room temperature shelf on about 8/6, and them consumed on 8/11/21 after being chilled. Poured into a tall tulip glass. Immediate smell or fruit and hops with a nice 1 finger off white head that slowly recedes and leaves some small amount of lacing over the opaque orange liquid. No discreet particles apparent....a nice solution, although quite dense. The fruit is tropical (pineapple?) plus some citrus (grapefruit?) and is apparent in the taste as well. Some other more ambiguous fruit flavors and hops in there, too, perhaps some pear. Nicely balanced. Good mouthfeel, with medium to heavy body. I like it better than most (or all) other offerings from this brewery.

16oz can poured into a pub nonic. Beautiful haze golden appearance with a medium off-white head. Liking the hops in this one quite a bit; unique notes of pear, lime, green grape, floral and tropical and soft, blending well with the soft drinkable body. Fruity, tropical, and crushable.
