this is brewed for a big rodeo event that happens here, a solid lager from a good brewery that somehow doesnt always nail their easy drinkers, but this one is tasty, sort of macro yellow beer adjacent, served on tap at the ford idaho center for one of their concerts, crushable when ice cold, warms up less poorly than the adjunct ones, and doesnt have anything metallic or overtly cheap about it, which puts it ahead of a fair few of these, without it really being anything special, just beer flavored beer with a half step more character than most of its peers. its a shade or so darker than blonde, approaching that brassy look, clear and bubbly but the head is short and it looks about par for the course in the big plastic cup they serve it in. the nose is subtle when its cold, which is what you want, a little honey type malt sweetness, some minerality, definitely neutral lager yeast and no appreciable hops, its less compelling as it warms, but its not gross. the flavor is definitely malt driven without it being heavy to drink, this is its personality, and it should be agreeable to most macro drinkers, its not that dramatic. the flavor is the same, nothing much from the lager yeast so its simple, but it has a little body and a little grainy linger that is pleasant, and i suppose i can find a late floral aspect as well, not bad. of course im thinking of this in the context of other venue beers and lagers playing in this space from the big boys, not against all craft lagers, where this would rank poorly for me, but its nice to have an option like this instead of settling in on the large format coors banquet cans at a venue, this finishes much better, drinks better at temperature, and holds its bubbles at least just as well. unremarkable in the mother earth portfolio, but i enjoyed a fair few at the show!
