We're adding another stellar release to our lineup of rotating Hazy IPAs. The latest Project X Series brew follows the series’ trend of keeping the malt bill somewhat minimal and instead focusing on hop combinations to achieve complex flavors and aroma. The most recent example being Metamorphosis, which pairs a celebrity hop trio of Citra, Mosaic, and Strata.
Having erred toward the sweet fruit and coconut flavors of our last Project X Series release, our brewers decided to swing the pendulum, calling for more traditional IPA flavors with Metamorphosis. Mosaic and Citra hops leave passionfruit and strawberries on the nose, while Strata punches up with flavors of dank marijuana and citrus. A heavy wheat addition and dextrin malt add a hefty body for support. The smooth finish of Metamorphosis masks a respectable 50 IBUs in a style typically known for bittering units in the teens, something our brew crew is quite proud of.

Canned 3/28/24
Fluffy head caps a nice haze. Expected. Solid retention, clumpy lacing.
Nose pops with tropical pineapple, citrus zest, and a hint of weed.
Flavor follows the nose well, but the tropical notes really bounce around. Again, the weed pops in, thankfully.
Mouthfeel is just shy of fluffy, but quite nice for style.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Hazy orange golden pour, creamy white head. Citrusy aroma, orange and grapefruit. Taste is zesty, grapefruit, pineapple. Creamy thick feel, just shy of being juicy.

Can dated 3/18/24, poured 4/8/24. Pours opaque gold/orange with 1.5 finger creamy, very persistent head that leaves sticky lacing in a modified perfect pint with carbonation initiation grid.,The only thing that prevents a perfect appearance is a few chunky solids in suspension.Faint creamsicle smell…somewhat fainter smell than hoped for. The taste is creamsicle (without the sweetness) + mild citrus (but not bitter citrus rind) . Mild carbonation/ borderline creamy mouthfeel. Really nicely done

this rules, all the project x beers do, but they are reaching new heights, and the fact that citra and mosaic are at the core of this is crazy, nothing exotic there at all, samey even, but the liquid isnt, and sure there is strata in here too, but thats also a known entity at this point, so the fact that this is as unique as it is is especially impressive. the nose and taste hit different than i know these hops to be, nothing catty at all from the mosaic, but also not really pineapple forward, more of a red apple and resinous indica. the citra isnt meyer lemon and soft herbs, its bitter citrus pith and like matcha or something, and the strata stays away from its onion forward dark side and throws down on green melon and coconut water, so heady, so fresh, and with a nice simple grain base that hits protein rich and fuller, but also easy, creamy, and pillowy, frothed up white head, not too dense looking, high carbonation, only faint residual sweetness that extends the best part of the hops, a lot of the project x beers have done that. there is nice balance to this, but its also super modern, coconut, hash oil without bitterness or bite, and light mango or apricot linger, really good. the texture matches the hop profile, and as borat would say, this is a great success.
