Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a 2 inch foamy white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Random wispy streaks of lace form randomly around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, spices, and yeast but very subdued overall. Taste is of grain, yeast, earthy dank hops, and some spice flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of almost medicinal bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good saison but there is more bitterness than I am used to for the style and the smell is somewhat lacking.

22oz bottle labeled "Los 4 Amigos Saison". No mention of Agave on the label but the cooler at Holiday wine cellars had a lengthy explanation of the beer stating it was brewed with Agave.

Pours hazy gold with an inch-plus head of dense white. Loads of torn sheets of lacing and a solid skim cap for the duration of the glass.

Aromatics lead off with honey drizzeled biscuits, earthy spice, cracked pepper, and a hint of agave. Cloves, cut grass and wet hay follow through.

Light bodied with a crisp, drying mouthfeel.

A bracing bitterness starts the palate with a peppery bite quickly following through along with dandelion greens and biscuit ends. Barely a trace of malt and bone dry in nature.

Finishes with a lingering bitterness, peppery spice, and a hint of Agave.

Interesting beer. The high level of bitterness suggests a heavy dose of hops and the brew is ultra-dry.

On tap at Urge Gastropub

A: Clear dark golden color with not much of a head.

S: Smells earthy with a little hint of spice and breadiness. Not a whole lot going on.

T: Earthiness upfront followed by some caramel malts and some earthy hops on the finish. It lacked any kind of funk, which was a little disappointing. Not a terrible saison, but not up there with the better ones.

Slightly hazy golden yellow with a white head. Ringed lacing down the glass.

Sweet aroma reminiscent of honey, toffee, and lemon along with lots of bready malt throughout. Simple and sweet.

A very bready and simple saison, and the agave/?honey? sweetness stands out more and more as the beer warms. A bit of peppery spice can be found in there as well.

Medium bodied, though just a touch too heavy and thick.

A simple, bready, and sweet agave saison.

On-tap at Mother Earth

A: The pour is amber in color with a whit head.

S: What a shocker, the nose sweet, underattenuated, and sugary. A mild pepper and spice note to it along with some bread, caramel, and toffee (as if that's what this beer needed).

T: Sweet sugar, caramel, and toffee right off the bat. A bit of a floral note to the beer, which is a welcome reprieve from the unrelenting sweetness. A bit of pepper and a hint of agave.

M: The body is medium and so is the carbonation.

O: There is something wrong here. Just way too sweet. Good thing I'm going to the dentist soon.

Sampled 6/26/2011 at the brewery.

Pours slightly hazy golden yellow, some white head but little in the way of lacing or retention.

Aroma is sweet, very sweet, also syrup, wheat, and some bread.

Flavor is defintely sweet (might be the agave), a bit nutty, bready, plenty malty, medium bitterness, and some candy and pepper.

Body is oily and a little too heavy (not heavy overall, just for what I like in a saison, which is dry).
