Amber in the pint glass with a very modest head. Murky malt flavors, long hoppy tangle, bitter aftertaste. Yet another dank amber brewed with a couple of shovelfuls of dirt from the root cellar. It's the bitter spoiled fruit taste that gets me with these amber concoctions.
The brewery notes the New Zealand Pacific Gem hops and lists the IBU at 48. In any case, this one seems like it's overly hopped with this high alpha variety without much fragrance. I don't get much sense of an English style here. I would call it an American Amber of the lower-alcohol variety. On tap at Monkey Paw in San Diego.
