Reviewed at Lewisburg WV's Irish Pub, 22oz bottle.

A- pours black with a ruby hue and a small tan head that quickly dissolves with little lace.

S- black licorice, smoky mesquite chips, light malt, fairly subdued.

T- dark fruit, smoky burnt malts, booze, black licorice, toffee, light herbal hop and a long smoky malt linger.

M- medium-full body, low carbonation and very creamy. Drinkable.

O- lots of smokiness, well balanced and great linger. Tastes are much more profound as it warms and seems to get better as you drink. Average in appearance and smell, but quite enjoyable taste.

I got a bottle of Bridge Brew Work's Baltic Porter from Nate when he was in Michigan earlier this summer, I've been wanting to try this beer since he told me about it, so I was happy that he brought a couple bottles for us to try out, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date but I know it's not that old. Poured from a 24oz brown bottle into a snifter.

A- The label is pretty much the same as their other beers, but with a nice blue colored background and I like the added information about the aroma and flavor of this beer. It poured a nice dark black color that had a real slight ruby highlight when held to the light with two and a half fingers worth of light brown head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and left some nice rings of lacing. This beer looks really nice, the color was nice and dark, and head was pretty impressive.

S- The aroma starts off with a large amount of malts that have a higher amount of sweetness and impart some nice roasted, grainy, light caramel, and a slight charred aroma. Up next comes a pretty noticeable anise aroma that makes for a black licorice like aroma. Towards the end comes a nice smokey aroma that is slightly peaty and adds some nice complexity to the aroma. This beer had a nice aroma, it was pretty roasty and complex, I enjoyed it.

T- The taste seems to be pretty similar to the aroma and start off with loads of malts that have a higher amount of medium sweetness and impart some nice roasted and slightly charred flavors, there's a real slight caramel and toffee flavor, that is followed by some light chocolate and dark fruit flavors. Next comes a black licorice flavors that is just enough to notice it without being overpowering. Towards the end comes a nice smokey flavor that is a little peaty and it sticks out just enough and provides nice complexity. It had hardly any booze flavors with a lighter amount of bitterness on the finish and a earthy and roasty aftertaste that sticks around. I really liked the flavor of this beer, it's got all those roasty flavors that I look for in the style with some additional flavors that make for a great taste with nice complexity.

M- Very smooth, creamy, slightly chewy, on the medium side of being full bodied, with a slightly lower amount of medium carbonation that works well with this brew. The mouthfeel was nice and worked well with this beer, I have no complaints.

Overall I have to say that I really liked this beer and I thought it was a very good example of a Baltic Porter, it was pretty true to style with some added aspects that made this beer stick out from the average Baltic Porter and it made it quite memorable. This beer has great drinkability, it was much smoother then expected and it had some nice and complex flavors that did a great job at holding my attention, drinking a bottle of this solo wouldn't be out of the question, but beer this good is meant to be shared so splitting a 24oz bottle is a nice amount. What I liked most about this beer was how good and complex the flavors were along with the high amount of drinkability this beer had, I have to say that this is the smoothest Baltic Porter I have had. What I liked least about this beer was nothing, I couldn't find anything that was out of place or unwanted with this beer. I would drink this beer again without hesitation, it's pretty impressive, and I recommend that anyone who loves this style should seek this beer out, it's for sure worth it. All in all I was pretty impressed with this beer, It had everything that I look for in a Baltic Porter plus a little more, this is a great example of the style and I would be interested to see how this beer takes to being aged in a bourbon Barrel. Good job guys, this is one kick ass Baltic Porter.

A friend shared a bottle of Bridge Brew Works Baltic Porter he got in a trade. The beer pours flat black into the glass with a small tan head. A few spots of lace cling to the glass as the foam fades.

The aroma has notes of biscuit malt, smoke, and a little licorice. It's somewhat subdued.

Each sip of this medium bodied beer is watery on the palate with a little cream mixed in. The flavor is sweet with chocolate, smoke, roast malt, biscuit malt, a little dark fruit and an earthy nuttiness. It finishes mildly bitter with a touch of grass. Once gone the chocolate and nuts linger on the palate.

A smooth, easy drinking beer. Well balanced flavor and very tasty.

pour is dark black, light tan head and thin bubbles. The nose is sweet with an interesting smokey peat note and black licorice. Taste is similar, a little peatier, smokey and light campfire, light malt sweetness in back. Full body, reasonable carbonation and soft palate.

Black body with ruby highlights, one finger of tan foam quickly drops into a tabletop.

Intriguing and inviting aroma strong with dark fruits, supported by chocolate and coffee notes.

Taste begins with fleeting coffee, a kiss of chocolate, and a cornucopia of dark fruits.

Mouthfeel seems a bit thin, wish it was chewier.

Overall, a tasty Baltic porter, and a good first impression.
